Poll: Does this world suck?

This world doesn't suck compared to all the other planets out there. It supports life and is filled with great variety and countless beauties. But, if you're talking about life, I would still have to disagree. Yes, this world is filled with morons and chavs that do nothing but pump out kids and make this place a worse place to live. And yes, there truly is no point to life because everything will become irrelevant anyways when you die or (possibly) when the sun goes supernova. Still, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy what time you have left. There's no real point in dwelling on the bad parts and people, for life can be a real shithole or a great wonderful place, it all depends on how you look at it. I'm not an optimist myself, but I don't see the point of spending your entire existence being miserable and focusing on the bad shit, especially seeing how short it is.

Anyways, just enjoy what life you've got left and stop getting hung up over this shit, and enjoy the ride. Because that's all life really is, a ride. And it'll be over before you know it. Have a nice day : D

The sun will most likely go supernova, but not in our lifetimes. Not in our children's lifetime. Not in the next many many many generations. It has many millenia left on it. I would love to see it happen, from a distance, almost as much as I love to see that other galaxy collide with ours. That'd be so cool to see. But, alas, that's not gonna happen in our lifetime.

And the Earth does not suck. Frankly I think it's pretty fantastic the way it is: You're in very little danger of being invaded by another country (Unless you happen to live in the Middle Eastern region of this planet), you can actually succeed in life (No matter how little you make, you're still making something), and the technological advancements are way beyond what had been predicted by anybody at the beginning of the 20th century. Take THAT early 20th century world leaders and inventors! You have a good life, so good in fact that you have the capacity, nay, the audacity to complain about it. If your life were truly sucky, you wouldn't have a job, or internet, or a home. So live your life with the knowledge that it's pretty dang amazing, compared to what it could be, Mr OP.

This world is the best as there is no other (real) world to compare it against. No it doesn't suck.

If Daïkatana was the only video game in existence, you'd say that it doesn't suck because it's the best one, since it's the only one.

But, with that game, just like with the world, we can write a massive list of things that can be improved. The world could be worse, but it could also be better. Not with a different planet, but with a different organisation of society.

The society (which has become global in a way) is poorly organised because its organisation has never been really thought, but it came all by itself through history.
If we were to think about how we could build a different society which would have for purpose the joy of all of humanity, we could make the world a better place.

The world currently suck because the organisation of society has no purpose (the accumulation of wealth, but that's not really a purpose, but more of a mean to do other things)

Sounds odd, but I agree with Cthulhu. World is actually pretty neat place, lots of little things that keep amused, like kittens. It all depends how you look at it. If you let yourself be bothered by a few rotten apples, you will miss all the wonders of the Tree[/bad analogue]. Sure, life kicks you in the head every now and then, but you don´t have to let it keep you down. Be cool, man.

No I know it won't supernova anytime soon, all I meant is the fact that it will someday truly shows how irrelevant everything is, even life itself for it will disappear when it finally does supernova. The fact that everything really doesn't matter is part of why I view the world the way I do, for if everything is meaningless there is no point in not enjoying what little life you have and taking risks, for all that you do will mean nothing eventually.

I have no family and no "love interest"

All I have in this world is my job which I need to keep renting my place, if I stopped going to work I'd become a homeless person. If I carry on living like this I will be living with no purpose

Or maybe you could get or your depressive ass get outside, meet some girls? or guys? what ever. Moaning fixes nothing; is depression the new black or something, the majority of people who are depressed just simply are not depressed. You might think you are. In which case do some excersize. It all depends on perspective.
But the very fact that some people spend their days very wealthy and happy with a Playboy model on either side and some people spend their days dying of malaria and eating dirt earns a lot of minus points for Earth.
That being said, it doesn't really suck. It just needs a makeover.

I find that the majority of the time, the world sucks if you want it to suck.
When you wake up in the morning you can do anything you want. You just have to do something that makes the world less sucky.

And if the human race destroyed itself... It would be bad for the people who died, and probably the animals and the parts of nature that needs us. I doubt anyone else would care, or even know we were gone.

You have interests, don't you? Things that you like to do? It's better to enjoy yourself than to just cease to exist. Even living through difficulties and feeling pain is better than being dead, in my opinion.

Maybe if you feel that your life has no purpose, you could find yourself a project. You know,something that would make a difference in your community or something really weird that would appear on a Guiness Book or travel somewhere you've always wanted to go to, I don't know...

Also, if there were no problems in the world, life wouldn't be as interesting. It's finding solutions that sparks things up. But I'm not saying we should start trouble or something!

I am a pessimist and I have to say, yes, this world does suck.

I would love to hear your reasons why, yes and no, this world does or does not suck

Here are my reasons:

I live in the UK, here we have "Chavs" people who don't work and live off of benifits, they ruin the English language and have about 5 children by the age of 16. Stereotypically they drink cider during the day and sell and take drugs and are just scum in this world.

We are born, taught and then thrown out into the world, where majority of us will work 9-5 jobs for lousy pay to pay our bills and leave us very little to play with, we do this until we retire, when we're thrown into a home until we die. What is the point?

I'm not saying that everyone should go out and become the Star Wars hero of the land, but I feel there is very little, if nothing, to live for. (This is not a suicide post) Majority of people on this Earth (I believe, at least) are two faced. There are some geniunely nice people but they are few and far between.

Would it be such a bad thing if the Human race were to destroy itself? I think not.

I think the world is flawed, but brilliant, intresting and wonderful. I do see your point though, but I'd advise you rethink what you said.

There are far worse things that Chavs. Chavs irritate, aggravate and repulse me, they do not depress. A massacre at a disabled baby orphanage would depress me.

To be honest, no, I don't think the world 'sucks.' There are many horrible things balanced out by many wonderful things. And I think if there is intelligent life out there in the universe in some other world it would be very similar to ours. Nobody is helping by being miserable and complaining about how supposedly terrible life is. It's just annoying.

Relatively speaking the world is pretty good right now compared to when it was a molten ball of slag, dinosaurs were eating our ancestors or the Nazi party was blitzing London, but from a subjective perspective, yes it does suck. It sucks hard.

No, I quite like this world, but I can understand how it would suck for people less fortunate.

So what if life is pointless? It's fun and sometimes it's wonderful.

Sure life isn't fair and the world overall kinda sucks, but that doesn't stop you from talking to that cute girl in English class or hang out with some good friends.

What I'm saying is that for you, and hopefully most people with an internet connection, none of the terrors in this world affect you so you should live life to it's fullest opposed to the people who don't even get the opportunity.

actually this is one of the most peaceful, and predictable, and productive times in human history....major difference over the past is we have instantaneous communication over vast distances, so it SEEMS worse than it really is...that AND the past few generations have softened up alot in light of never really having to face any real hardships in comparison to generations past.

as for me personally? however the world decides to be, is how it is...I just am, so I roll with the punches, and live on one experience at a time.
