My computer has a limited amount of disk space, I don't want to spend that much money on games and I don't want to pay for a game that would only turn out to be bad once I played it. Therefore, I had to be very selective with the games I buy, and I had to find a critic that had high but fair standards.
Yahtzee is the best critic for me to listen to when it came to advice for purchasing game due to his merciless nature against bad games, while at the same time he leaves the best and the tolerable games in one piece. Plus, his videos always crack me up.

Nope, ridiculous pricing policy does that for him. But if I'm still interested in game after he's done bashing it I'll probably consider buying it.

Depends on the game. But mostly no. He didn't like GOWIII, AVP, Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend and I bought and liked all of these. But I come to agree with him at some points. Like MGS 4, Prince Of Persia, GTA IV and DMC4.

I am not however that shallow to not buy a game just because the controls to ride a horse take a bit of getting used to. RDR is still on my wishlist.

We do have this question a lot, don't we?

Previously, I've said with the minor exception of Saints Row 2 and Painkiller, that no, he doesn't affect our purchases. I find him more entertaining than anything else.

Recently though, I did encourage my husband to buy InFamous and Prototype, influenced in part by things that Yahtzee mentioned in his reviews of them- and in fairness, everything he said about them was based in fact, and the games are actually really good.

Not really, I bought a used copy of turok despite how bad he said the game was i'm just a fan of the series. Although the melee attacks are the worst of any game i've played.

Never. He is there for satirical and comical purposes. He is not a 'serious' reviewer, and if i am on the fence my opinion is generally swayed by 'professional' reviewers. Gametrailers are a good example. The term 'review' in the same breath as Yahtzee should really be taken with a pinch of salt. Actually, just take the whole damn salt shaker.

He's there to rip on the games we hate and love, and that's all there is to it.

I can say he's put me off a few titles before but only when he's seemingly confirmed doubts i may have had about said titles.

There's not a game i've bought and seen a review for by him that's made me regret my purchase, like Darksiders, being one of said blobs that did like 40K i enjoyed the game's comic book asthetics and Zelda Style gameplay.
I mean if you're ripping off a tried and tested formula Zelda's as good as any other; and Darksiders wasn't such a bad game either.

Not in the slightest. If I can't decide if I would want a game or not, I'll ask one of my friends. We all share similar tastes in games, so I can always ask one of them what they think of x game.

See, it's funny 'cause I actually do this <.<

OT: Not in the slightest. He's there for a good laugh and a clever quip, but not for his reviewing capabilities.

No they don't. I enjoy his ZP and Extra Punctuation and I can say I get a new view of things but it doesn't affect me that much. If I want a game I buy no matter what he says and judge it by myself.

not enough, I know what I like and if yahtzee talks about a game no matter how bad he says it is I listen for feature I like and if he lists enough I look up the game myself, example TWEWY.

No, I watch ZP to be entertained. I'd watch reviews on GameTrailers on games that I am interested in.
