No. Not really. I watch his videos to have a chuckle to find a new way of looking at a game. If I allowed him to make my decisions for me, I'd have played a lot of games I would have hated, and missed out on ones I liked.

He's a critic. Not a reviewer.

I can't buy every game I want and yet still manage to pick out ones that I always like. If I wasted $50 to $60 on a game I didn't like than thats my bad. What if you played a game a reviewer liked and hated it? I don't rely on reviews for anything and still enjoy what I play.
Do you use the same strategy for everything you buy? You only rely on your own opinion? Heh, you need to be more trusting or learn to lean on other people.

When most people want to buy something, it's quite common for them to get some feedback from experts and people they trust. Nowadays, even opinions from fellow customers mean a great deal. Look at the hugely popular customer review sections on websites like Newegg and Amazon.

There is just so much out there. So many games. It's really difficult to keep track of them all, even if you work in the field.

Watch that. :D It's kinda cool. Seems Painkiller sales increased after his review.

So I would say, if he says it's good: I will definitely check it out. But I won't refuse to buy something just because he says it's bad. :p Since he CRITICISES games.

So yea, it affects.

No not at all. Yathzee is nothing but entertaintment to me. Everygame he hates are the games that are like top 10 greatest. His veiw on fighting games is one of the most iggnorant gaming stament ive heard. Plus his whole multiplayer means nothing crap annoys me.

Fighting games are ment to play with sombody!. He lies and throws out misinformation for games he does everything. Hes not a credible reveiwe. Hes fun to watch though. Nothing more nothing less.
Let me guess, you're one of those people he bashed in his mailbag-video?

You know, who can't stand the thought that anyone ever can have an opinion that is not the exact same as yours.
No i dont email critics. never even commented once on yahtzee until now. I love you you didnt even answer to any of my legit points about why am not a fan. I just answered what the forum asked. Isint flaming against the rules here? Whatd i do wrong? Just gave my reply to what the op asked is all....

If Yahtzee says a game is absolutely amazing then I will have a look. But his job is to be a critic which means he is supposed to pick out all the faults. If I didn't buy a games because Yahtzee said there is something wrong with it then I wouldn't own many games.

sometimes, if he likes a game then i'll usually at least rent it, and I agree with his points on most things, (cover based shooting, JRPGs etc.)but i dont think id ever not buy a game based solely on yahtzee's comments, although a couple i have avoided due to him absolutely destroying it see the sonic review if you wanna know what i mean.

Well, as far as I can tell I dislike every game he seems to love (except Silent Hill 2) so even if I did view him as a serious reviewer I wouldn't be able to determine purchases with his input.

At least he's not Adam Sessler who is uninformative, unentertaining and preachier then Al Sharpton. At least Yahtzee knew Too Human was terrible!

No, at least not very often. If I want something, I'm generally going to buy it regardless of what Yahtzee says. Although, from time to time, I do enjoy comparing my reactions to a game with his, just to see how closely matched they are.

I ain't a Yahtzee fan as of now. I thought I was sarcastic, but this guy has me beat by miles. Too much sarcasm is a bit too much for my stomach.

Very rarely. I did buy Psychonauts, Silent Hills 2, and Prince of Persia on his recomendation...simply because a game that passed his unrealistic expectations is a must. I never avoid a game because of his rants though.

Unless he brings up one of my 10 sins of game design that no other reviewer bothered to mention, then no, I really don't make my game purchases based on Yahtzee's reviews. Hell, if I did, I wouldn't be buying any games. :p

Oh hell yeah. If it wasn't for Zero Punctuation, I wouldn't have ever tried and loved Prince of Persia, Silent Hill, Psychonauts, or most of my other favorite games. He definitely influences my decisions.

... oh, I see what you're saying. Then no, Yahtzee has never influenced me to not buy a game. That's just stupid.

Well, I was considering buying Red Dead Redemption and after I watched his review I stopped considering it. Why? Because he was the only one who mentioned (quite off-hand) that you have to hold A to run in it, like in GTAIV. That is completely stupid and make my interest in the game vanish. We have analogs now, people.

Conversely, if he says a game is good, I'll feel like playing it. I mean, that's like on hell of a test to pass.
That may well be the most petty reason to not buy a game.

Not "usually" he doesn't. I value his opinions on games, because even though they're exaggerated to hell and he rips on stuff just to rip on it, he never lies. The flaws he points out are legit. I watch the vids for their entertainment value, but I respect the reasoning (or lack thereof) in most of them.

One game I HAD to buy though, was The Witcher. His amount of hatred for that game was so hilarious I had to see it for myself. I ended up quite liking it.
