At my age, it's just one step closer to the adult diaper wearing, non-stop drool fest and shaking my fist at young whippersnappers stage of my life.. None of which I'm particularly looking forward to.

But seriously, you kids stop playing on my lawn!!!

Well, 17 now, gave up on birthday parties at 13. Don't even get many presents anymore. Was promised driving lessons this year and nothing else besides. Still haven't had any.

For me, birthdays just signify another year.

I think it's very sad and pathetic you don't care for your birthday at such a young age.

OT: Birthday's do matter to me. They are one constant routine in almost all cultures and can be a very special moment for someone if they approach it the right way.
Alright im pretty sure that pathetic isn't the best word for that sort of make you a huge dick. Just because i dont care about my birthday i am pathetic?

I feel better when I get a happy birthday, but the announcement over the PA system in school is fine. It really doesn't matter if someone forgets, as the people who remember are the ones who mean the most to me.

You only get one 15th birthday, spend it with friends and have fun. Soon you won't be able to make a big deal out of it anymore. You only get one chance to have an excuse to have so much fun!

As for me I love birthdays, I don't make a big deal out of them or ask for persents but I get together with close friends. On my 18th we got really drunk and they shaved my legs and we layed out on the grass smoking cigars and chased eachother around. It was great day and I wouldn't trade it for the world. You too young to be jaded and cynical just enjoy yourself while you still can :D

I do like receiving gifts but I usually don't have that much of a party. I don't have very many friends in the first place, my birthday's also during summer vacation so none of the stuff that happens on birthday schooldays.

i like birthdays, but they aren't a massive thing to me. Just another day, except with a £100 pricetag and choice of meal. Indian restaurant's are amazing! =D

My few attempts to make something of my birthday have for the most part ended in dissapointment, so I don't really bother anymore. As long as somebody (not a family member) remembers, that's enough for me.

My birthday is two days after Christmas, so parties never really happen. Had one once and only two people could make it due to the holidays, and another with family friends. I never really cared much for it, since Christmas is a few days before, it never really seems like a real birthday. Last year I just sat around my house then went to work...

Eh, not seeing what's so special about being one year closer to death. That's not something I'd like to celebrate really.

It doesn't help either that I don't have many fun family members or any friends to celebrate it with, so my birthday is kinda pointless. Just an excuse to rake in a bit of extra dough (no one bothers with giving me any presents) and eat some cake.

Birthdays are awfully dull without friends.

Plus, if you have awesome friends, why wait for one day in the year to have an awesome day? You can do that any day you wish.

Wow, me and four other people are miserable bastards.

Because its hard for my friends to see me everyday, we live miles away from eachother and the gas can get expensive, so birthdays are a great excuse to spend that extra money and go hang out with eachother and just get silly.

The key word was "approach it in the right way".

As your current stance is "Just an excuse to rake in a bit of extra dough (no one bothers with giving me any presents) and eat some cake."
I wouldn't think you are taking the day in the right mind.
Then what is the right approach? I mean, it's still a year closer to death. Yay?

Fair enough, glad that works for you.

My 20th is on Saturday and I don't really care too much.

I wouldn't say I don't like birthdays', I'm not the Scrooge McDuck of birthday's or anything, I don't like present giving though.

I especially don't like expensive presents.

I feel guilty that someone spent so much money on me, this is magnified by my obvious lack of a desire to spend even half that amount on almost anyone in my life and the fact that everyone know's it.

I can't help my cheap nature.

Don't get me wrong, I'll buy an expensive gift, I'll even enjoy giving it. But I'll also hate it at the same time and I'll always worry that my gift is not of equal value, which ruins the entire experience for me.

For a summary of my beliefs on gift giving watch the episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" in which Sheldon has to get gifts (Christmas and a Birthday if I'm not mistaken).

After the pretty low tone I've set with my dislike of gift giving I will say that if you decide to enjoy your birthday it'll be alot more fun.

I have had a few shitty birthday's (My 18th being the worst, which is silly as it's the legal drinking age in Australia) but the good ones have more than made up for it.

Don't take it too seriously but do try to enjoy yourself.

My birthday was a few days ago. I didn't mention it 'cos it's just another day for all I care, although my friend let it slip at work so a few people got me a cake... that was nice.
