Well, i was one of the many who bought APB, and one of the few who generally enjoyed it.

If you havent heard, or read, APB was trashed after only 3 months of play. I had more then 20 hours left on my account, and i was kinda mad, and depressed at the same time.
But im rambling. To the main reason for this thread.

I had read about people getting compinsastion for there lost, and i wanted to see if i could possibly get something in return for the money i had ((for lack of a better term)) wasted on my last time purchase.

I sent there customer service a message, pleading my case, and within 2 hours, i had gotten a reply. It said,

"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I do apologize for the issues you have been experiencing with. As a gamer myself, I can understand how frustrating not being able to play your game can be. I have been assigned to your issue, and would be happy to assist you in this matter. As a minor token of compensation we can offer you a digital version of any title currently available on our online store. If you do wish to receive a refund for the time you purchased you would need to direct that request to: [email protected] ." ((name withheld for safty reasons))

I thought to myself, "Wow, that was fast and easy!" i messaged them back, and they offered me any game available in theyer online store, no the price.

I now enjoy my brand new copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ((having already purchased the sims 3 with every exspansion, it was my only choice really)).

Now i wont lie, i hate 80% of the stuff E.A. releases. But within 3 days ((mostly because i was busy and couldent message them back)) i had gotten compinsation, for what most companys would probably tell me, "to bad, screw off kid".

I was expecting a message, telling me i was out of luck, but they were honestly nice, and pushed the process along with no hassle, like they accually care about me as a customer. ((lawlzer-sk8erz!))

I just wanted to tell the community, despite theyer poor servers, and constant spam of sports games, theyer a company worth respecting.

All I can say is that they are doing a damn good job of covering their asses after that steaming pile of unpopular game. Ohh! guess what I voted for. (Protip: Only vote on there.)

So you love them for one positive experience? Makes sense. I dislike them for the many negative experiences, including trying to deal with game problems.

But good for you. I think. That was a nightmare to read, but I'm certainly not going to tell you your good experience sucks.

I wouldnt say theyer covering theyer asses.
Covering there asses would be handing out 10$ gift cards to best buy.

They gave me a game worth more then the time i had xD Id say theyer trying to make it up to customers more then cover theyer ass.

Woah, thats...awesome.

I cannot imagine any other company doing stuff like that.
Valve did it awhile back, something about accidental steam bans, so they sent everyone who had a problem a free copy of Left4Dead2.

Yeah, but thats good though.
They made a mistake, and they paid for it in full! xD

But insted of just a small error, EA made a "complete flop".
And theyer fixing it by handing out refunds and hugs.

And i like free hugs!

they took on respawn entertainment, and right now its them against bobby "Im a doofus" kotick. no contest. although, considering the amount they release, they get no points for making a good game

Better than some.

OT: They are ok. They seem to push out too much of the same game for me. Glad you had a good experience :)

EA seems like they are geniunly trying to change. I just hope they don't go broke before this transformation is complete. Potentially, they could become a really good brand and I am interested in where this goes. So I'll vote for decent at the moment.

I don't love EA. They pulled some pretty annoying shit in the past.

But credit where credit is due. They are certainly improving.

I like them. Just for publishing Deathspank and Brutal Legend and Mirror's Edge.

They're taking risks with their money, rather than "safe bets". They still do the sports games, but that gives them the money to take risks.

EA have deffinly made a come back from when there were the most hated developer. They made some bad choices but now seem to be working really well with the comunity

So i find there a decent company now and have put them back on a clean slate as there deffinly not the same company that caused so many problems

Also nice to see they were going to give you another game of your choosing they could have just given you a real crappy game they were trying to get rid of.Activision take note be reasonable with your customers and they will be more reasonable with you.

I never hated EA to start with. How could i hate company that published some of my favourite old time games? Bards Tale, System Shock2, Dungeon Keeper, Budokan, Theme Hospital among many. Sure they made some games i don't like, mainly the sports/racing games, but you know what? It's not like anyone forces me to buy those games and there apparently s enough of people out there willing to pay for a new version each year, so good for them.

Their biggest flop was the whole SecuROM/install limit DRM 'scandal' but at least they got the message from the customers and revamped their policy choosing less destructive path of Project 10$.

In the end, its a big company, like any other, it's out there to make money and not provide charity service. Could they do it with better style? Sure, but so could every other company. I guess it's just popular to hate big brands.

EDIT: Also, i voted Cthulhu, just because Ia Ia!Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

In his house at R?lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.

Pretty much what's written up here. If a develloper, ANY develloper, makes a game that I don't like, then I simply will not buy it. EA's made some rather decent games and while I really only "Test" the sports games (meaning I play NHL 09,10,11,etc for three days and grow a bit bored), they are still rather well made.

I've never understood people that swear off companies due to some of their titles being shit. The company doesn't make you buy their products and can't. You bought it, you didn't enjoy it, move on. These people, who boycott companies for "Bad releases" are oneday going to realize that they've boycotted ALL the devs and in their stubborness, they'll simply never play videogames again.

They're better than some, and they have certainly been improving. I wouldn't say I love them, but they're beginning to show interest in supporting original games, rather than shitting out franchises, and hey always have been better than Activision.

EA sent me a £10 gift certificate to use on their online store for my birthday, which was nice.

Obviously it was primarily to generate a sale, but £10/$15 isn't a paltry amount to be scoffed at, especially when you see gamers whining about DLC costing or game prices rising by a lot less.
