Well, the U.S. Presidential election is coming up in a few weeks. I've been wondering what the world's opinions of the two major candidates, as well as America in general, are. When I was looking through these forums earlier I saw a poll that showed that only about half the the people here are American, so I decided that this would be a good place to ask this. It's also one of the most intelligent and educated forums around, which will hopefully keep this a good discussion.

Please explain your views on the candidates or America in general, and don't just turn this into a bashing-fest.

P.S.--I'm an American, but not really proud of it.

this thread is going to be futile, most of the American portion of this site is democratic and most of the non-American portion either couldn't care less or they want Obama because he isn't like bush.

Non-American for Obama because he's different and probably a total push-over on the international scene (but Rudd's a pushover too, so meh). McCain probably isn't and though he'd be better than Bush (not hard), he'll also look more internationally that nationally.

Also, you Americans have a great sense of humour. Sarah Pailin, haha.

Is it wrong that I assumed this meant Escapist Election when I first saw it?

Obama FTW.
I'm American, but I've been reading Howard Zinn's People's History of American Empire, a graphic novel, and I'm starting to get ashamed...

Well, I really like McCain, and I really like Obama... it was going to be a really tough decision for me until McCain picked Palin, that made it easy.

Obama.

I don't like this poll. There is no option for third parties. I do not like either candidate, and will not be voting for either of the major parties. I don't care if third party candidates have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning, I am voting for Ralph Nader.

Well I don't know why every one bashes Palin so much, I thinks she's alright.(plus she has more EXECUTIVE experience then Obama)

Any way to the point Mccain because he has actual war experience and I think he will appreciate the soldiers a bit more then Obama.

Don't bother, most people here are bleeding heart liberals.
Better than retard-o-matic conservative, also anyone with half a brain shouldn't vote for more GOP bullshit. Palin is a lying hypocrite and McCain ain't no hero, if he was a hero he would've broken out of the POW camp and rescued his comrades.
Maverick? that is the most laughable thing I have heard in ages.

If you want an argument, just go to the Obama thread at the top of the page.

Truth. I for one am voting for Cynthia McKinney with the Green party. Aside from being the candidate whose veiws I agree with most, she is also a black women, and I figure that's gotta be worth some karma points, right?

Right?

*scoff*

Everyone knows there's no such thing as third party candidates. Only people you can throw votes at in a futile gesture that doesn't accomplish anything.
