Hey, fellow Escapists. I just recently got dumped and have spent the majority of my time moping around my house, cleaning it over and over again, and looking at the ground.

Can you recommend any really enjoyable games that really suck you in? I'm going to spend a lot of time on my couch doing nothing at all, and I'm hoping that I can really get into a good game or two.

Don't feel limited by the "recent release" list either, if you have an excellent old gem let me know and I'll try to track it down. Thanks in advance for your help.

And if you came here to make fun of me due to the thread title, I will now supply what you want:

My life
An endless dark spiral
Go away mom
Never going to clean my room
You *****

Grab a Timesplitters game, those saw me through my "Emo-years" way back in high school (yes I even wrote bad poetry... no eye liner , black clothes or slicy haircut though, it was just my mopey attitude).

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I'm going to grab a copy of Timesplitters tomorrow after work, since I've never even tried it before.

Also, sorry to ghey up your board like this. I just always noticed that you guys are incredibly polite for a forum and probably wouldn't crucify me for admitting to being bummed out.

If you like strategy titles, I am really getting sucked in by the new Empire: Total War. The hours just fly. A big improvement for the series.

I feel for you man. Only time makes it better, although I know how little consolation that is when it's you.

I would recommend playing some Halo: CE. It's a happy game for me.

Or doing a puzzle. Puzzles are fun.

Or other stuff. Maybe go outside and meet girls? That's always fun.

What the hell kind of poll is this? I am going to select No because Jedi are not boring at all and this thread angers my gods.

If you want a game to make you feel awesome, play Lost Odyssey. Trust me, you'll be laughing for hours on end.

I totally forgot about the Total War series. I lost months of my life to Medieval II, so I will definitely grab that too. Just gotta wait for my new PC to get here.

Also, thanks for the regards. I appreciate it a lot.

Well, the games I've spent incredible amounts of time on are "Baldur's Gate 2" (or if you want a darker, more serious/mature story, "Planescape:Torment"), "Okami", and "Saint's Row 2".
Each is an excellent timesink, though the last one can't be beat for venting frustrations.

Haven't played that but if what I read about it are all true, then expect a jolly good time.

Of course theres the part where almost every part of the story is sad and depressing though still brilliant.

You should Play Max Payne 2. While it is somewhat emo in the beginning you get this new found hope.

This is love; when someone no matter what the cost shows you there is hope. A choice that you can put down your gun. This is love...love hurts.

Gameplay, graphics, and such are very outdated, but the story is one of the bet I have ever seen.

Dommy, you're seriously not sick of Jedi by now? I mean, once you've seen one Jedi Force-jump over, electrocute and then slice up a million droids you've really seen them all.

I will admit, however, that there is endless untapped potential as far as Jedi are concerned. I would pee my pants with glee if a new Star Wars flight sim (TIE Fighter is still my favourite PC game of all time) was released where you can augment your flying abilities with the Force, for example, or maybe a film, videogame or book about bounty hunters on the prowl for Jedi. None of that Jedi Starfighter BS, either, I demand overly complex keyboard control schemes. Backspace is full throttle? BRILLIANT!

I recommend something like Final Fantasy Tactics or Hitman: Blood Money. Both games have lots of dark atmosphere and replay value, not to mention how hard they both rock. Hitman: Contracts is even darker still, but the gameplay isn't as refined.
