But still, I have seen about 80 or 90 different anime shows or movies and I can only come up with 3 examples of good or better dubbing, that means that it's bad about 96% of the time IMO. It's not 'always', you're right about that, but I will no longer give dubbing even a chance anymore thanks to those terrible odds. So from now on the answer will be 'always' for me.
Fair enough. I can understand not giving a dub the benefit of the doubt. But even then, there's definitely some quality dubs out there, some even better than the Japanese. Two examples which spring to mind here are Cowboy Bebop (said to have a better English dub than Japanese; I've only seen the excellent English dub, so I can't judge on that score) and the majority of Ghibli/Miyazaki movies. Disney seem to have a knack for finding excellent (if invariably big-name) voices for the English dubs.

tl;dr: No need to seek out dubbed animes, but if someone recommmends a dub to you, there's no need to refuse on the basis that it's dubbed, since there are quality dubs out there. And if it's Miyazaki, one can pretty much assume it'll be good.

To be safe I usually watch anime subbed, though I'm not a dub hater by any means. Fullmetal Alchemist, for example, was dubbed very well. I also didn't mind Evangelion's dub, though Misato's voice takes getting used to.

I used to enjoy dubbed anime when i was younger and things like Card captor Sakura was on TV with an English dub.
But as i've grown older i have discovered that dubbed anime is crap and subtitles are the greatest thing in the world.

Personally I prefer the subbed ones. There are some good dubbed animes (such as Full Metal Alchemist) but I just prefer watching them in japanese. Some of the dubbed voices just grate on the ears and the translations are terrible.

Ghost in the Shell is my example of dubbing done right.

Onepiece is my example of dubbing done shit.

My point being it can easily go either way.
Can't get more accurate than that.
Cowboy Bebop has a good dub too.

Subtitles suck. I hate having to read an entire movie.
Subtitles are the only reason I got by on the Animal Crossing Movie and Game Center CX.
Unless it fits perfectly in the movie. Then it's alright, sometimes. I think I watched a few movies that had perfect subtitles

I just watched the dubbed version of Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann and was amazed at how well done the dub was, while I generally find the original VO to be more enjoyable in that I find the japanese voice-overs to be simply more 'mature' and adult-like when they speak, the squealiness of the english voice-overs wasn't so much a problem here.

All dubs must die, in Bleach they messed up Nel's voice/Neliel's voice... she only sounded funny in japanese because even in her adult form "ex-espada" she still sounded like her childish self... oh yeah and they also messed up the best scene from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann where Kittan dies... -.-

You know it's Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann right? Not Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann.

I can't watch Cowboy Bebop with it's original Japanese voices. Spike is supposed to sound like Steven J. Blum and when he doesn't it just seems RONG. But there are other anime's that I think are much better with the original Japanese audio, so I'm going with "Good if dubbed right."
