Poll: Escapee Comradery

Here's is a brief but curious question. Some of us visit these forums daily, hourly or even more obsessively. Some of us drop in when there is nothing else to do or it's raining outside or when the console breaks. No matter what we have a certain degree of social interaction with users from across the globe.

The question is, do you personally care about your fellow escapees?. Not in a health or general well being sense, because as humans it's inherent nature to care no matter how much you deny it, but in a friendship sort of way. Do you value their opinions, their presence, their views. Do you care if you have fight with these electronic friends, do you care if they quote you and give you internet cookies, do you care if you get a special mention, do you care if ill is spoken of your username?.
On a scale of 1-10, how much do you care about the people around you.

I don't care for anyone on this site. Sure it sounds harsh but it's the truth. I like the site and I like the community, but do I care about each individual?. No. I don't even care for specific individuals. You are all people I will never ever meet. If something horrible was to happen, yes I will feel sad and I might even say a prayer. But if some of you got banned or just stopped visiting I wouldn't care at all.

It depends on the circumstance is what I am saying. Generally, I care more about my dying cactus plant than any of you but if calamity was to befall you lot, then I would definitely be crushed.

Also if it counts I am sure you are all lovely people in real life. Just don't call me. I'll call you!.

I like that quote. Though the more I think about it, the more it feels like a penis joke.

Edit: Don't look at me, I didn't vote. I don't hate everyone but I don't care for anyone either. This is more in turn with my feelings for certain people getting banned. Do I care a few "prominent" people left. Not one iota.

I do love the community spirit though.

I actually find myself arguing with people a whole lot less on the Escapist than on other areas of the internet.

It's genuinely a very friendly place to be, and I tend to find that people express their opinions in a 'discussion' context, as opposed to "XBOX IS FOR FAGGOTS" or whatnot.

Under the circumstances, anyone I meet on the Escapist I assume to be a all-round good bloke/bloke-ette. I love you guys.

That said, it could be argued that I only say that because I still don't have any friends as such around here. Odd that I'm heading towards two years here without getting to know anyone at all, though not entirely surprising since I've seen people post more in one month than I have in 21.

I guess this site is a nice gauge of my wit and sense of humor, I've been on some truly retarded forums and I'm glad this doesn't feel like one of them so i've stuck around, do I have any special bonds with anyone on here?
Nah not really, but I'd stick up for 'the site' and thus it's members if there was some serious unwarrented hatred for it out there.

If you care for me, I'll care for you, This site allows me to be pretty open about a subject I love (games) so, In turn I'll show it the same respect and to those using the same medium.

I have to get to know people before I care for them, I'm very selective but loyal to those I consider friends, It's the same reason I detest facebook and the like, I really don't enjoy exposure to false friendships. I don't like taking advantage and being taken advantage of, through a friendship, it feels SO wrong to me. And I see so much of it.

I've forged a grand total of 5 rather interesting relationships (nothing of a romantic nature) on the internet (in approximately 9 years), and being as picky as I have these special few have really worked to gain my trust.
No one on the Escapist has done that yet, but hey, maybe one day.

I think you meant "camaraderie".

I try and say useful things and be helpful, but I don't really get caught up in what people think of me or anything. I'm kind of used to being equally loved and hated in real life and I've learnt that you can't please everyone, so it really doesn't matter what I do, I'm probably going to be hated by someone out there, and that's fine. People have tried to wind me up on occasion and I've barely even noticed.

I like a lot of the people here. I'm vaguely curios in what you all have to say and what has happened to you; by which I mean that if you go off on a tangent about something I'm fairly liable to stop and listen... but not always.

To say care isn't inaccurate, in fact I care a great deal about some people here. Though, again, only because I want to hear about them. To say there's a comradeship between users might be a bit of a presumption; but I'd say about 58% of users will treat people who aren't being retarded of a troll with a fair amount of respect.
