Well, I think EvE is so much more worth it than WoW or anything else. EvE is worth it, trust me (and the 250,000 other ppl that play EvE).

Warping to asteroid field: Fifteen seconds.
Travelling a hundred kilometres to get to asteroid: Half an hour.
Harvesting asteroid: Half an hour.

Its a dreadnaught. Yes you can dock them. It's actually Chribba's dreadnaught. The one he uses to mine in high security space (where dreadnaughts are not able to go for those who dont know). That is Chribba's Tatoo. Yes it is real, I was there when he got it.
Ohhh... I've been lied to. So you can dock dreds, that's nice to know.

Heh, guess there aren't many cap ships left in high sec after they moved all the big shipyards into low sec.

Mining in one...

That must scare the willies out of anyone mining in anything short of a Rorqual.

...which you can't get in high sec either. Man I need to get my cap ship knowledge up to scratch.

Ah, you're doing it SO wrong, my friend. Behold, the easy way to get to those tasty, tasty floating rocks:

- Bring a mining craft and a quick scout craft to a good mining system with a hauler
- Dock at a station that has ore processing facilities; make sure that it has a good return rate and you have good reputation with them
- Fly the scout craft out to several of the belts in a row
- Bookmark any good-looking rocks you happen across
- Return to station; get in your mining craft
- Do a warp-to-zero on any of your bookmarked asteroids
- Nibble those rocks to oblivion

If you're just warping a mining ship (especially one of the ORE ones) into a belt and flying towards the rocks manually... sheesh, that's like trying to win the <a href=http://www.lemans.org/accueil/index_gb.html>Le Mans in a garbage truck.

Also, why are you autopiloting anywhere? Warp to zero! The autopilot is DESIGNED to make trips longer- they don't want people walking away from the computer for 45 minutes while their ship cruises the cosmos.

I thought that EVE was gorgeous and had pretty good gameplay, a decent community and was actually very fun. However, its not worth the monthly fee and if your ship wasnt destroyed whenever you die it would be much much better.

You're doing it all wrong.

Getting a Rokh and outfitting it with tech 2 modules: about 200 million ISK
Getting all the skills for a Leviathan and its modules: about 500 million ISK
Getting a fully outfitted Caldari Leviathan: about 1.5 billion ISK
Flying your leviathan and its corporate issued fleet randomly around your enemy's star systems: Priceless

Rorquals dont mine...

As for people saying that EVE would be better if your ship wasn't destroyed thats fair enough it's your view, but if CCP did that they would lose alot of its community.

How about mining with a titan? With a full fleet of battlecrusiers guarding him. :D

No, ok. But they head mining ops, so which not physically mining it's the only verb really applicable to em.

As far as I'm aware.

I might be really digging myself into a hole here.

And Battlecruisers? Tier 3 battleships! With 8 mining lasers each! And hordes of drones!

Or highest tier possible, (Best)ORE ships with strip mining lasers+(Can drone bays be upgraded?) Drones.

I played it for about half an hour, and even after the tutorial bit I was still horribly confused as how to do anything

Dronebays cannot be upgraded, a Titan mining would be a fatal mistake (although they can get about 360m3/min) and the verb for a rorqual is commanding ;)

Yeah, at most it's 14 euros a month, not 14 quid...
You mean at least, and also, do the seasonal subcription over paypal and paybycash, and that makes it just less than £10 a month.

I tried EVE on one of my buddies two accounts, and now my character is around 12,000,000 skill points. He's doing well. We've just been mining whores lately, he mines with and I haul, and it works out pretty well, at least so far as to be able to buy skills/ships/outfit them. I do enjoy the game as is, but I can see some things where it could be better:

EVE using a Freelancer style combat would be much more preferrable.

Tweaking the skill system so that you don't learn at the same rate offline as online. I would rather it be less of a "time based" game. I would like skills I used, if I had them activated, would go up at a faster rate or some such thing. Or a mentor program where someone could "teach me" the skill, making the skill go up at a higher rate than normal. Or implement multiple systems. There should be something done to improve skill learning rate.

I would like to be able to customize the ships, at the very least having a paint scheme and you corps logo on the side with the name of the ship would be nice. Optimally I would like to be able to "design" ships, using parts that differentiate the races, so that you can make your own class of battlecruiser or some such thing.

Other than that, I'd have to say that EVE has come the closest to being a "perfect" MMO. I wish more MMOs would take a few chances to try something different for a change rather than all emulating WoW and trying to steal the same customers...

I think everyone in EvE would like to be able to customize the paint job of ships and even create your own ships from scratch, but CCP is busy with Ambulation for the time being.

First point - No no no. That would lead to grinding. Which is whatmakes EVE so unique, nowadays, it's grindless.

Second point - Also no. Porn and moderation. I'd much prefer some skinning competitions, where you design a skin for a ship, and it might get put in the game. (Obvious)
