I hope that's sarcasm.
It is right?
I'm not good at detecting it.
It's not sarcasm. And the intensely racist and xenophobic culture is well documented.
Well, so far, no one here has been half as racist as you.

Your confidence in your wildly inaccurate "facts" regarding Japan is staggering.

I wonder if your well-documented sources are accurate and up to date? I also wonder how they would compare Japan to places like France, Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Ecuador, all of which I've visited as well and most of which had a significantly more negative attitude towards foreigners than Japan.

-Everyone is lovely as all hell. I dunno if it's cultural and they actually hate me, but none of it seemed fake and I don't think I've been too a friendlier place than Japan. The football fans are mental, though (which is also good!)
This is my experience also. Especially out in the country.

- When we got a Taxi, they charged us only a short distance because our place was in the direction of the Taxi office anyway.
- In a Ryokan the owners introduced us to other guests who taught us origami and calligraphy.
- When we fecked it up on the first night and forgot to order a meal, some of the other guests gave us some food.
-When all the trains were cancelled due to a typhoon on the day we were supposed to leave a guest drove us back to Kyoto (2hrs) in a freakin' storm.

Lovely people, really.

No, but im certainly interested in going. However, just read moviebobs latest Intermission where he talks briefly about "Vegas Fantasy" vs "Vegas Reality" in The Hangover. Im rather wary it wont be as amazing as I expect.

Make no mistake, I'm not racist.
And yes, the sources are quite accurate and up-to-date.

I used to, back when I was a weeaboo. Now I'm a little wary. I've had this whole thing going about how if Germany or Italy had invented Manga & Anime, we might like them too. I think the focus is on the media for a lot of people.
Can I remind everyone that some of the best games ever were home-brewed right in the US? And as for animation... Well, I think the Soviet Union put out a lot of stuff that was much better.

Well, obviously. If Germany had invented Pizza I'd probably prefer to go out for a German than an Italian.

I plan to travel there in 2013, provided the world doesn't end by then of course.

Yes.

It's a place..

A slightly fucked up place where people will, for better or for worse, treat you like you're visiting them from the fucking moon and if you're a girl you might get ejaculated on in the subway, that's always fun.

But it does have some genuinely awesome people, and if you can stand to leave the city it's a heart-wrenchingly beautiful country to boot.

And no, it won't ever be as amazing as you expect because it's a real place where people live relatively boring and restrictive lives, but I think that goes without saying when you travel most places in the world.

But that's sarcasm, right?
I mean, you're arguing with someone who is IN JAPAN RIGHT NOW.

Nope, but I would like to go there first. I'm definitely gonna have to learn Japanese before I even consider getting a plane ticket there.

Well, I've lived in Okinawa for the last 4 years, if that counts. It's okay, but I look forward to trying to get a job elsewhere once I finish my degree. There's something about having bleak job prospects as a foreigner in an island full of people that are already shat upon by their own government that doesn't endear the place to me.

Most of the people are outwardly nice, at least.

Also not sarcasm. You haven't noticed any racism. Good for you? Rather hard to avoid, considering I live here. So yes, you might say I've been to Japan.

Yep, spent my spring semester of last year there in Fukuoka. Great place, great friends and even better memories would kill to go back.
