I was planning on getting a PS3 this year but I suffered a minor setback...a strong thunderstorm rolled through at 11:15 PM, knocked out the power, and fryed my XBOX 360 in the process. It was working fine all day but the following morning, after the storm, it would start up but then I would get the RROD. As the day went on, it got to where it wouldn't start up at all, not even getting to the RROD! I have a new 360 now but I still wanted to get a PS3. I'll just have to wait a little longer.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, tell us the absurdly annoying way you lost your console.

The laser on my 360 decided it would be a fun trick to stop playing movies at about the 2/3 or 3/4 mark and not let me access parts of games.

My original Xbox's disc tray stopped working after a few years...just like mostly every other Xbox in existence. I bought a used one, and the first controller port stopped working, and yet again the disc drive eventually went out. I also shipped a 360 in for an ethernet error.

Have a "Not died yet" option or something of that manner, 'cause nothing has killed any of my consoles.

Another way to phrase the question would be "Have you owned an Xbox 360 for a year or more?" I got the E74 (I might have the number wrong) message when I'd had it for a year. That was almost a year ago, so when you hear screams of agony echo across the globe in a few weeks, that will be me when I get my next error message of death.

360 red ringed, went to replace it, store wouldn't accept it, I yelled a lot, threatened to bring an imaginary news crew in to "reveal the lies", got what I wanted.

Where is SHITTY PRODUCT that I shouldn't have bought in the first place? I would click that and it was an XboX360. I will not pay for something that has a high chance of breaking. I guess I'll click fluke. Though I didn't replace it with another xbox360. I bought a ps3.

My old dreamcast broke fairly recently when i decided to crack open skies of arcadia for another bash. Damn thing would turn on for around 60 seconds then overheat and die, had to buy a cheapo one off ebay in the end.

I have a 360, what do you think happened. RROD of death of few times and they sent "replacements" but its just the same 360 with the same fault, complained to a "supervisor" and he said the got a few people everyday complaining about the constant RROD and he sent me one which apparently shouldn't do it (and it's been a year and the ring is still green)
