Peter Molyneux, the man who brought us Fable, is now following up with Fable 2. Molyneux says there will be real-time changes in Fable 2, wait a minute. Didn't Molyneux promise real-time changes for Fable 1? Did he keep those promises? No, he did not. So what makes Fable 2 any different? Well, experience might. Heck, Fable 2 may end up being Game of the Year, or in the $10 bargain bin. Personally, I think that this game will succeed, although it may not get a mention at prestigous gaming conventions, it certainly won't go unnoticed. All this being said, I am just one person, and I think Fable 2 should get a second opinion.

Meh, I dunno, another fairly avergage, highly playable but hardly groundshaking RPG?

Black and White 2 was actually considerably worse than the original, so Fable 2 hardly inspires hope. Still, I'm playing the movies currently, and that's pretty damn good.

I think it will be enjoyable, but unless the world has the depth to it as was promised it wont be amazing.

im hoping for the best, as I did enjoy the first one despite its shortcomings. However, like the first one I think the main thing ppl will come out of it feeling is just how massive Molyneaux's delusions of gradeur are

I think it's going to be really, really gimmicky, but longer than the original.

I never played the original Fable, but I'll give Fable 2 a go unless it is universally panned as terrible.

Molyneux promises the moon and delivers a flashlight. It's just what he does. Fable 2 will be a very good flashlight.

I played the original Fable right through. It was good, not brilliant but not terrible either. Having liked the look of the box art I wasn't expecting it to blow me away. The only things that really stood out for me where the Character Actions (like waving, burping etc), the ability to marry whoever I wanted, the fact that I could own property and that my character actually got scars from fighting. That was the bit that I thought was great, the fact that my character ended up with rugged scars across his features.

Anyway, about Fable 2. I saw a video about it with Molyneux promising the underlying emotion of "love" to be a core part of the game. This was confusing, did he mean 'love' like the love of good food or 'love' to the extent that you want to spend the rest of your life with someone? At the end of the video the only new things I could see about Fable 2 were: the character was more proportioned and you had a companion.

I'm not expecting Fable 2 to re-define the RPG scene but I'll probably buy it anyway, just fill up the space next to it's predecessor.

P.M.

that was like perfectly stated.Molyneux is good, and he makes great games, but i think the development team needs to shut him the hell up so ppl like the game for what it is,and dont hate it because it has only half the things promised.

sorry to double post, but i had to mention that it seems that nomatter when or where you get hit,you always get the same scars. My friend played about half way though the game using a bow most the way,and he was only hit like twice and he was still covered in scars at the end just like i was,and I was hit at least like 4 times by every monster i fought.I think molyneux made a good game,he just over hyped it.

Hang on, why did the poor guy get banned?

I don't really understand why. Fable 1 was fun enough but dwarfed by superior titles out at the time like KOTOR and Morrowind.

Oh, don't knock the value of a really good flashlight. Most games don't make it above an LED indicator light. I played Fable over and over because it was a fun game, but, as you said, there are other games that were much better, that showed Fable's flaws in stark contrast. Fable was cute but lacked depth on a number of levels, and not just compared to KOTOR, which made me like the Star Wars universe for godssakes, and I hate the Star Wars movies - all of them - because George Lucas's direction blows toads and the leaden dialogue is only rescued some of the time by the excellence of the actors. Variety of gameplay, balance of gameplay, variety of story paths, depth of emotion, variety of combat, and for all the dicking around I did with clothes and tattoos, I still only had one character choice to play.

And yet, despite all that, I played that game many times. Because it was a really good flashlight.

I don't expect every studio do be Bioware, but Fable got so wrapped up in its details, like the passage of time for instance, which was cool, that they forgot that RPGs should really engage the player with the character, and every word that comes out of Molyneux's mouth makes me believe the exact same thing will happen with Fable 2. There will be lots of cool features and not much depth, and I will goof around with the cool features and really enjoy the game, but it will never go beyond cute.

I'm not entirely sure, we've been let down before by Mr Molyneux but this time it seems different. It is quite early but it already looks very promising, with the several previews that have been shown such as the dog and the co-op features, I think with those already in place, the developers have really been working hard at this game, and the rest of it could well shape up to be one of the best games released for the XBOXs or even ever.

Shall wait and see though, i'm not going to ruin it for myself, i'm just going to wait till it's released now.

If the game doesn't unify the general theory of relativity and electromagnetism, I'll consider it a disappointment.

I expect Fable 2 to be a lot like the first one, with updated graphics and the similar brand of dry pythonesque humor I've come to expect from ole' Pete over the years. I also expect a lot of hype and subsequent letdown from people who actually believe game developers when they say their game is like nothing you've ever seen before. (Tabula Rasa anyone?)

I'm sorry to say that i get the feeling this is going to rock.

I say that because every time I get excited about something, it's a crushing let down (see Halo 3), but that said fable lost chapters is possibly my favourite game, period. That's possibly because I had never heard of Fable or Peter Molyneux before I played it.

Fable 2? Scuse me for a moment.

*Goes off to hide under a rock*

Fable was a victim of its own hype. The main reason why so many people were disappointed by (although still liked) the game, was that we were told too much. Why don't developers keep stuff under wraps more often? Okay, leak us screenshots, concept art and the occasional game mechanic, but don't go overboard and promise the best thing since sliced chorizo.

Hence why I refuse to examine the hype around this game. When it comes out, I'll download the demo and manke up my own mind on how orgasm-inducing it is.

I don't believe there's been that much in terms of hype, just several things that have been promised have been shown to us. Even though release is quite a way off, it's great to see some of the aspects of the game.

I think the fact that several big games will be released before Fable 2's release date is even confirmed will shoulder a lot of the 'hype' as people will still be playing those games when they realise "shit, Fable2 is out next week".

I'll definetely be getting it, enjoyed Fable and with what we've been shown so far, can't wait to get my hands on the 2nd installment.

i dont want to say it but i will i thought fabble was a very good game it is probably in my top 10 but thats just becouse i like this sort of stuff having a house and kids is nice once in a while and some humor is always good in a game also i also liked it becouse it was the(for as far as posible)perfect blend of a hack&slash game and an rpg witch means it didnt have the slow gameplay of an rpg or the bad story and bad interaction in a hack&slash
but it did future awesome combat from a hack & slash and at the same time the posibility to interact as in an rpg also the guy that said there was no real time i thought it was as real time as rpgs are going to get without them just being a "second life" to you (witch you may like but i dont so sorry for having different tastes)with that said nothings perfect it was kind of short and the trading was easy( buy all sell all buy all sell all)you know what i mean if you did it if not good for you also i think its kind of strange that while your out rotting in prison somewhere your whife remains loyal to you and is just happy that your back with the words oh dear finaly your back life goes on as usual and nothing has seemed to have hapend
i dont think fable 2 will be much better but at least it will almost certainly be longer and with what ive heard the trading system is going to be imense
