I like to keep a slight beard, nothing too unclean looking. If I shave it all off I look too young for 19. Well, kinda.

Speaking from the women's side (or from my corner of the women's side, anyway):

Facial is fine so long as there isn't too much of it and it's WELL KEPT! That's the biggest thing. A lot of guys think, "hey, what the Hell, I'll grow a beard," and then don't look after it, so they end up looking like hobos. If you want to get a girl (or keep your current one fro running for the hills), either shave, or keep it trimmed.

Currently I'm growing a bit of a goatee on my chin. I don't like mustaches, and I don't look good with a large beard, but I want to see how this turns out as I often stroke my chin in a pensive state and it would be all the more fitting with a small beard to stroke.

I haven't cut myself in about 5 months. The result is an unkempt mess of strong hair, growing in asymmetrical directions. Felt really cozy during winter.

or if its just something that nerdy guys feel proud of because it helps them establish a feel of manliness they otherwise lack.
Your asking that on a site filled with nerds? What are you expecting your results to be?

Facial hair = the tramp look, look at Brad Pitt (coming from a straight guy) that guy is good looking, then he grew a beard and looked like an ugly tramp, shaved it off and he brought the sexy back.

I have no idea why some women like facial hair, it makes men look scruffy.

Just to calm the in coming flames a little, it is just my opinion.

I like facial hair on guys if they suit it. I find some people who grow beards doesn't suit it.

I dislike shaving and only do it when I absolutely have to. I don't like the way I look when I shave and it makes my face itchy as hell.

It looks good on some guys and horrible on others...and that?s really the extent of my opinion on it.

Alls I can grow are sideburns and a neck-beard, which makes me sad because the one thing I've always wanted is to have a glorious mustache :(

For some reason hair just refuses to grow on my face.

I've got the apparent "Slacker Beard" of 2-3 days growth. Once it gets that long I cut it with a beard trimmer. It's like 50% faster than actually shaving and I only have to do it 2-3 times a week. So yeah, I'm loving it. Though this is for exclusively personal laziness issues and time constraints.

Honestly, most ppl I see with facial hair in the 15-25 age bracket tend to do it badly. Either because they choose stupid style or because they aren't capable of growing actual thick facial hair so it just looks stupid.

Anyways, I'll be in the military in about 6 months or so, and I'll be clean shaven everyday.

When I rule the world, neck beard will be strictly prohibited.

Seriously though, I like to see a guy with stubble... just no neck stubble... oi.

I generally go with well maintained stubble. Not as time consuming as clean shaving and rather good looking says my girlfriend.

I'm the guy.

I alternate back an forth between facial hair and not. It's not really a matter of preference on my part. It grows until I overcome my laziness to shave...it never takes.
Same here. When I do actually motivate myself to shave, I leave a soul patch which really looks good on me....and lasts all of three days.

Go with a Goatee or Van Dyke to take some of the roundness out of your face if that is what you are going for. And don't be afraid to cycle that with some beard growth especially during the winter. Check out some men's hair and style websites and magazines to see whats "in" or get some girl friends to help you decide.

Since you are going for girls, be mindful that they will all have varying tastes so it may be best to ask the intended girls what they like on a guy, or ask their friends what the girl likes or something. It even goes so far as girls liking the look of a mans stubble but not liking them up close because the stubble scratches them.

I think that changing up your look every now and then helps with girls that are around over long periods of time, as it shows that you aren't fully committed to a beard or something and they may see something they like in the process. Girls tend to like men they can change, or at least thinking they can change them.

Edit: I cycle between Van Dyke and Goatee as I have a round head as well. During the winter I go full on beard (for extra warmth) but I keep it well groomed and fairly close cut. Every now and then I'll get fed up with having stray mustache hairs that I can't control and things like that and I'll shave the whole damn thing off.

Right now I'm sporting a Van Dyke in combination with a 1-2 week growth beard, which seems to be how my girlfriend likes it.

Have had stubble for years. Feels weird to be without it. Why do I have this? Because it feels manly. There, I said it, and it's true, even if I probably wouldn't admit it if someone asked me face to face.
[sub]I'm so going to mock you for this the next time I see you in person. ^^[/sub]

OT: Saving up for a goatee.
[sub]Thanks dad for my very sparing amount of facial hair. >_>[/sub]
