I haven't yet read it, though I do have World War Z [http://www.amazon.com/World-War-Oral-History-Zombie/dp/0307346609] sitting on the shelf for when I'm done with my current read (The Difference Engine [http://www.amazon.com/Difference-Engine-Spectra-special-editions/dp/055329461X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251915184&sr=1-1]) so I should know what to expect when the zombies bo come.

I've already prepared for the rise of the robots (How to Survive a Robot Uprising [http://www.amazon.com/How-Survive-Robot-Uprising-Defending/dp/1582345929]), and I know I should prepare myself for the zombie apocalypse, too. One can only hope that both the robots and the zombies don't attack simultaniously; I don't think anyone's yet written a book on how to survive that!
I don't think anyone should. It's common knowledge that those two hate each other. Anyway, robots are too awesome to be survived.
OT:Never heard of the book, and I honestly doubt I could get it around here. Oh well, guess I'll have to make sumthin up.

I really need to buy it, is it really that good?
Yes,it is.

OT:
I have it, and read it from time to time.
I am prepared!
I have a good plan for surviving, although I still don't have a cottage with supplies in an extremely remote location.
It's a great book.

I really does prepare you and educate you for a Zombie invasion. I kinda wish their was one just to use the book. :p

Me, too. But I plan to have plenty of supplies, 'coz there is about 4-5 supermarkets in 100 meters of me. All that leaves is the weapons.
I have weapons under control, several neighbours with shotguns, hunting rifles and one with a mp5.
There are several harbors here, as I live by the ocean.
There are two supermarkets fairly close, and I have access to an all terrain 125cc motorcycle.

So:
* Gather friends/family.
* Get guns.
* Get food that lasts long (rice, sugar, canned food and so on).
* Get my 1000litre containers and fill them with water.
* Get boat, and gtfo!

My plan obviously has more details, but this is a short summary.

And yes, I love planing and discussing my zombie apocalypse contincency plan!

EDIT:
Let's meet up in Madagascar. I'll be bringing along about 10-15 people if all goes well.
Where in Madagascar? I'll meet you there bringing about 5 people seeing as all my friends are morons... then again, most of us have played a zombie game now and then so we should be smart enough not to get bitten.

My Plan:
There is a gun store nearby... ransack it
Next to the gun store there is a food store... ransack it
My uncle owns a boat... hijack it
Get somewhere safe (i guess madagascar now...)
Ok fine its not that simple, but you get the idea.

Having not read ZSG (yet, it's on it's way,) I can't say if i'll folow it.

On the other hand, why not just go and get infected?? It will save you the big headace of rebuilding society, plus you'll become a zombie, if there was ever a way to die it vould be zombiefication. Well the other ways vould offcourse be jumping out of a burning car while yodling or being sexed to death.

South coats of Madagascar. Not entierly sure exactly where yet, but we'll be burning bon fires every night, so I'm sure you'll find us.
We'll be building a palisade wall pretty quick, so if you see one, that's probarbly us.

I'd probably eat you if you weren't pulling your weight, before the zombies could get to you. It's likely the cleanest source of meat in such circumstances, and it's best to keep moving in any situation involving the undead. It's nothing personal, just survival. :)

Being prepared for survival doesn't mean preparing to prolong survival instincts. If you really want to be prepared for Z-Day, learn the critical skills you'll need when your supplies run out and your weapons stop working. Stockpiling weapons and going to Canada is just a really elaborate way to freeze and starve to death, IMO.

It's not so much that I disagree with the ZSG strategy, just that the overwhelming improbability of zombie apocalypse is slightly less improbable than zombie apocalypse happening the way the satirical fiction portrays it.
Dude, you ABSOLUTELY have to read World War Z. Here's a hint: it's not about zombies.

Does anyone know if Max Brooks has written anything else? Honestly, I think if he wasn't writing zombie fiction, he'd be an official Great American Author.
He's done other comedy stuff too, like writing sketches for Saturday Night Live, and he's appeared in Roseanne.

The Zombie Survival Guide is an entertaining read, but it is firmly tongue-in-cheek satirical comedy, the biggest joke probably being that so many people take it seriously... a masterful stroke of satire from the son of Mel Brooks.

He even make subtle references to it's uselessness in World War Z.
Are you serious? Can you back it up? No offense, but "Max Brooks is the son of Mel" is too awesome for my brain to accept.

I too bought it for a humorous read, and that was dispelled soonafter. Great book.

However it makes no mention of Castles as a place to hide in event of Zombie attack. My plan involves a castle and I don't know if it's any good. Plus where the hell am I supposed to get a gun in the UK?!

I didn't know such a book existed.
Well, I might as well get it and make it into my own personal bible.
How much would said masterpiece cost a poor chump like myself?

Did I mention that EVERYONE SHOULD READ WORLD WAR Z?!? There is a chapter specifically about surviving in English castles.

Also, I think the final view on guns is basically, they're nice to have, but don't leave your machete behind.

What do you want, a DNA test?

It's relatively common knowledge (well, it's on Wikipedia), and you can see the family resemblance (especially around the mouth, cheeks, nose and hairline).

Plus, he's obviously inherited some his father's talent for comedy and satire, or at least learnt it growing up (nature or nurture).

My favourite book, and I have a full plan just in case.

Being a sailor, my current plan is to get some friends together, head to the marina, take out my 40-footer, and any others we can get together, and form a floating convoy with hydroponics and fishing to sustain ourselves indefinitely.

I haven't read World war Z as the ZSG made me scared enough about zombies, and WWZ would probably finish me off. If, however, there is a part about Castles then I'd better buy it.
