Fallout 2 seems like there is more to do than the original. I haven't really played either for all that long. Fallout: Tactics seems like it could be fun except I 'm terrible at it. Immediately after completing the tutorial I forgot many the controls and my entire was somehow slaughtered by a single raider. And we had the element of suprise on our side. They all kept missing!

Fallout 2 follows the proud tradition of 2-numbered sequels---it's incremental rather than revolutionary.

Personally Fallout 3's my favorite---never got into all those old turn-based PC RPGs---but storywise if Fallout 2 were done with FO3's engine it'd have a good shot at being the best game ever made (which, considering what they're trying to do with New Vegas...)

I couldn't stand fallout 3, it kinda ruined the series. Still, I'll probably give new vegas a shot at least, and see if it's any good. If it's crap, then I won't bother with the series again.

I have personally deemed New Vegas as being the New Hope for the ultimate Fallout game. And I have called it such ever since Hardcore mode was announced, because if there's one thing I hated about Fallout, it was that it was TOO DAMN EASY.

/sarcasm

I can't wait for Hardcore mode. Ultimate Fallout? I think so. If only it had co-op...

I'm probably in the minority here, but I preferred Fallout Tactics.
I prefer Tactics too, it's honestly my favorite Fallout game. Plus the Midwestern Brotherhood Of Steel had the most badass power armor.

It just screams awesome.

Preferred 1 tbh although it's been years since I played either. The time limit was a bit of a pain in the ass though

Fallout 2 does have a time limit, it's just so long that you could beat the game 20 times over in the time you get.

I prefer Fallout 2. I liked its less serious tone. Many people complained about the heaps of cultural references and such, but I like it when a game doesn't take itself too seriously.

Fallout 1, just because F2 screws with you in the character creation ;)

Else i actually played Tactics first, found the world to be amazing, looked for Fallout 1 and 2 and found them amazingly better than tactics.

Then i got 3 and being on the fence on that one so far, i played the shit out of it (around probably 400 hours or more). In the end, out of pure boredom i made broken characters to up the difficulty, turned out you CAN play a heavy weapons guy with 1 END and a melee character with 1 STR.

So if theres one gripe i got with F3 its that it is too easy.

New Vegas...weeeeeel first i was hyped, now im sort of meh.

I've only played Fallout 3, but that's about to change. Just ordered the Fallout collection (Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics) from Play.

I own all 3 of those but i haven't played any of them enough to have a favorite, they all seemed brilliant.

I can't compare any of those to Fallout 3 either, i think they're all brilliant but in different ways.

I'l say Fallout 2, but quite frankly, I enjoy the entire trilogy.

Brotherhood of Steel and Tactics can both go jump off a bridge.

FO1 was a decent game...for its time.

FO2 was just great, it's a classic.
FO2 is up there with Crono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, DOOM, System Shock 2, and The Longest Journey.
A true classic.

FOT was mixed for me.
It's a damn good game, but I don't know, I just never really felt it lived up to the other two games.

FOBoS sucked...I mean, badly...just horridly sucked.

FO3, not the biggest fan. TES4 with guns?
Meh.
