Poll: Fallout 3 - Too easy?

I don't normally complain about games being too easy. Heck, all games - with the exception perhaps of Ninja Gaiden (and New Zealand Story for that matter) - are essentially easy once you've fathomed the scripts set down by the programmers. But stumbling upon Fallout 3's rather sudden ending, I found I'd stocked up for a war that never arrived: 197 stimpacks, 35 Rad-X, 30 Rad-Away, 700 shotgun shells, 850 assault rifle bullets and 900 plasma rifle cells. I died once during the game - and that was falling to my death trying to cripple a limb for that Moira cretin at Megaton.

This isn't some kind of cock-waving rant. I'd just like to know if anyone else was bracing themselves for a fight which never really kicked off...

I wouldn't call it too easy but

It was a little disappointing that it never had a real final boss.

If combat itself is too easy, you can play on harder difficulties.. Very Hard is actually quite unforgiving..

It depend's on how you play it, if you want a challenge set it to very hard, don't fast travel and don't carry a million stimpacks with you.

Couldn't this have gone in the official topic?

It's a little hard for me to vote, since I just tweaked the difficulty setting until the random encounters ceased annoying me. I thought games were supposed to be entertaining, not necessarily difficult.

Although the amount of cussing I did at Prince of Persia: Two Thrones sure entertained my housemate, so maybe difficulty is for secondary entertainment purposes.

However, usually if I'm seeking frustration I just go argue politics with whatever nimrods happen to be available.

I'd say the difficulty varies, but the moment you run into Fawkes the second time, I basically ran around hiding behind him for the rest of the game :/

I ended up killing Fawkes.

because everytime I slept, he'd be in my way.

One day, it happened once too often, so I killed him

Well at start it is just right, but after some time, when you have enough money and ammo the game is really easy. But I vote just right because more than half of the game it wasn't too easy.

I think some of the fun later in the game is just seeing how much stuff you can accumulate.

Try meleeing Deathclaws on Very Hard

even at level 20 that would be hard.

I played it on easy, because I only had a week to enjoy the game (I had to rent this one, rather then buy it, as I'm strapped for cash)

I managed to get to level 20 missing 3 main sidequests, and had a blast doing it

But even on easy, my mainly melee character got his ass HANDED to him by Deathclaws.

I had to pull out guns to kill them

The ordinary Raiders, Mirelurks, etc. aren't too tough, but trying to take them on in a "marathon" manner one after the other without stopping to jump home/make repairs/ sleep for health can be taxing. The Mirelurk Kings, Glowing Ones, Deathclaws, and especially Super Mutant Behemoths are all tougher than that, of course, and put you at risk, but they're mostly optional as encounters; it's as hard as you want it to be even without jiggering the settings (for most character builds).

Just right on hard mode, I only died if I was low on health and ran onto a mine or some other act of stupidity. Would of been to easy for me on normal mode, and Im a good shot in fps so wasn't that reliant on vats either. I'm playing through as a melee on the normal mode now and it's a lot more difficult, allt hough thats as much needing to get up close enough to the enemy without getting shot to much. Which was less of a problem with turn based in 1 and 2.
As for tough enemy's, once you have got a plasma rifle or Lincon's repeater everything is easy enough to kill. The only problem with death claws was constantly quick loading cos they eat dog meat.
P.S Your name and avatar rock out loud and hard GyroCaptain.

I think its moderetly easy. Deathclaws are a ***** to kill, though. And Feral Ghouls are easier to kill than a fat maggot.

Out of the one time I played it, I got to the "Finding the Garden of Eden" quest on Very Hard without dieing in one sitting.

This made me very happy that I didn't buy the game.

you want hard? Try taking down a behemoth with nothing but a BB gun and a Switchblade.at level 3.many stimpaks were shot up.

Fallout 3 Wasn't a particularly difficult game

However, i don't like in some games where you die and you
are sent buggering back to half an hour ago. Bad
difficulty can put you right off a game.

Fallout 3 is too easy? Tell that to the Super Mutant Behemoth that just beat my face in. Random encounters are funny in this game. I just got done clearing a camp of regular Super Mutants and there was no Behemoth in sight so I walked away. Ten seconds later I realize that I didn't check all of the boxes so I head back and a Super Mutant Behemoth appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the camp. I died of course since I was level 5, but after I loaded the last save the Behemoth never appeared there again.
