I liked every Fallout game so far. Yes even FO:Tactics. I nearly worshipped the first two when i was introduced to them/were released and i have to say i still love part 3 at least as much. Bugs can be annoying, especially the crashes because when i get into the flow i forget to save often.

Fallout 3 introduced me to the series, but my dad was a big fan of the originals when they were out. So he dug up his copy of Fallout 2 for me, I liked it (even though I haven't finished it because I'm having such a hard time ), and after playing New Vegas, I feel like I understand why the hardcoar fans hated 3 so much.
It was an amazing game, but the atmosphere is so different. The original Fallout series was actually funny, whereas FO3 could be downright depressing. Looking back, I don't like how the Brotherhood of Steel was portrayed. They're kind of typical "good guys." I feel like the Outcasts were totally justified in their decision to leave. The fate of the Capital Wasteland isn't their responsibility, and it's not like the Brotherhood's getting much out of being everyone's babysitters.
The Enclave in 3 weren't even that bad -- Eden might've been batshit crazy, but Autumn thought he was going too far. In Fallout 2, the opening cutscene shows an Enclave squad gunning down an innocent family.

Ranting nit-picking aside, I really did love Fallout 3. It's just now that I know more about what the series was originally, I'm annoyed with some of the changes Bethesda made.

Pffft, I dunno man. This is the Escapist. Why don't you go ask the guys over at No Mutants Allowed? They're the ones giving us the bad rep.
Thank you, though I bet 50$ bucks someone linked this thread to their forums and whining about it. No Mutants Allowed is such an elitist site. Mind you I liked Fallout 1 and 2, but the days of isometric top down RPGs are long gone. Hell nobody but the small group of remaining hard core fans would even care about the Fallout series if not for Bethesda.

I got introduced with Fallout 3, decided to go back and play 1, 2, and Tactics (yes, the Anniversary pack or whatever it was called). I didn't like the interface change (not a fan of overhead view, point and click movement, or turn based combat), but I stomached it. My thoughts were in this order:

Fallout 1 - Liked it, the storyline, etc. Again, only problems were the occasional glitch and the interface.
Fallout 2 - Didn't like as much as 1. Blowing up an oil tanker was immensely satisfying, though.
Tactics - AAAAAAAH!!!!

1. Bioware, Dragon age.
2. Isometric rpgs are still used in the PC platform. FPS-RPGS are normally multiplatform. Isometric didn't die because it was bad, it died because of the multiplatform model of business. You cant make a game for two consoles that play differently, too much money is lost.
"1. you broke a rule of the escapist. no necroing threads." Excuse me?

Top down isometric games are only still made for the small niche crowd of people who enjoy them. Probably the same people who get rabidly nostalgic about Fallout 1&2 and KOTOR. Dragon Age is a small exception. Mind you Dragon age resembles something more like Fallout Tactics or League of Legends rather than Fallout 1&2.

Look at Dungeons, and how much advertisements it got.
Fair enough, I suppose my frustration lies with peoples unwillingness to even give the news games a shot without nitpicking every 2 seconds.
