False awakening: "...is an event in which someone dreams they have awoken from sleep. This illusion of having awakened is very convincing to the person. After a false awakening, people will often dream of performing daily morning rituals, believing they have truly awakened."

I personally have experienced this a number of times and have often been completely convinced I was actually awake, few of my friends however have had the same experience. Seeing as I'm the token insomniac of the group I figured I was alone in this, but now I'm curious to see just how many other people out there have or haven't had their very own "False awakening".
If you select the "Yes" option please share your experience.

Yes, and with alarming regularity.

On those occasions I actually do have dreams...

I have had False Awakenings a few times, usually right after a traumatic event, where I go about my normal routine that, in real life, has been disrupted.

Yes, and mine went further than just daily morning rituals. I essentially dreamt going through an entire day of school.

Of course, then I wake up to find that I haven't begun yet. Worst day ever.

I can't say that I ever have. It sounds intriguing, however... so long as nothing bad happens, of course.

My worst one was when (nerdy moment forthcoming) I was in marching band in high school. We practiced for 10 hours a day, 5 days straight one week. I woke up 2 times sitting up in my bed, air drumming my music.

Man I'm so glad that not only am i not alone in having False Awakening's period. But that someone else has dreamnt of going through school only to awake in bed at home also!

Its weird because usually I'll end up hearing either (sometimes both) My Mom or Alarm Clock blaring at me(From the real world)while in a False Awakening and I'll be yelling that I'm awake and getting ready. Then I'll actually wake up and be like "Ah shit".

Man, I hate false awakenings. One time on Monday after school, I took a particularly long nap. I had a bizarre dream I don't remember, but afterwards I had the false awakening. In my dream, it was Saturday and I invited all my friends over for a party. After the party, I went and had a dream nap.

Then I actually woke up and thought it was Saturday. I stayed up late and slept in the next morning; I was about an hour late for school.

These happen to me too; it grinds my babies.

Yea I had this ABSOLUTELY RANDOM dream where I suddenly died... By meteorite... And woke up a thousand years later in an even more dystopian future.

Wow. Talk about your bizarre coincidences, man. I was also convinced this had never happened to anyone else.

Yeah and to think I was about to chalk it up to be a result of my lone Insomnia.
It's just so weird because during most Lucid Dreams at some point or another I'll realize I'm dreaming and wake up (usually because I have to piss half my body weight) but during a false awakening everything is set up ever so perfectly, I'll go through the motions of what I do every morning with such precision and authenticity that I have no reason to believe that I'm dreaming. The first few times it happened I had a real time accepting they were dreams at all.

Exactly. When it happened to me, I thought that I must have had a blackout or something; to have gone from school back home and never notice until the next morning. It took me a while to realize that it was just a dream.

I think I did before once. It was after a lucid dream and I "woke up" thinking "that was weird". But then I really did wake up thinking the same thing. At first I thought it was deja-vu.

I do have FAs every so often, but they are often broken by my alarm which has people on the east coast turning their heads wondering what the noise was.

Ive had a couple of these, but oddly enough they are always in third person. Hell I wake up looking at me in third person before I wake up sometimes.

Once, but the illusion didn't work for very long.
The dream quickly devolved from daily routine into total chaos and shortly after that I woke up for real...
...or did I?
