the guys at my school only play COD and they all are glad that quick-scoping is back because it takes so much skill and that people who can to it are amazing and deserve every kill they get with it OK this is a bit of an exaggeration of what they said but only a bit and they also think that quickscoping takes more skill then proper sniping in badcompany 2 I just want to know someone agrees with me that these people are idiots it will help me get through Christmas with out smashing my head against the desk for hours on end.

Quick-scoping as a playstyle and as your only way of garnering kills is ridiculous and unnecessary.

But being that it's been nerfed, it's not that bad.

I approve of it's use as a last resort method of saving your skin. Anything more than that requires sentencing to the gladiator pits.

Nope, not a chance. Proper long range sniping in Bad Company 2 takes the knowledge of good perches, learning lead and distances, patience to get the good shot, and knowing when a spot is no longer secure and it is time to high tail it. Quick scoping is just running around and letting the auto aim do it's thing. Its annoying, but technically legitimate, but Sniping is way more fun to me and it's rewards are much greater.

Still playing MewTwo, you occasionally run into people doing it but it's still something of a rarity. To be honest I've occasionally cursed being unable to do it when I get caught short with a rifle. As a complete playstyle though, it is an exploit and should be removed, I'd be perfectly happy to play without it existing.

Other activities like tubing or witching (which I've never seen as a problem, I mean, they run fast and stab you! How dare they! Just shoot them) are frowned upon but actually require some skill, whereas once you can QS you have an insta kill exploit for all seasons...

Well if you're a douche bag, you quick scope. It exploits the aim-down-sight system of a sniper scope coupled with the aim assist in CoD. So if someone is kinda in the center of your screen, you quickly aim and shoot. The scope goes right to the dude, and its a one hit kill with an SR. I hate it because it cancels out any kind of actual CQC skill. That's why I hate Halo sniping. Treyarch said they fixed it, but they also said they balanced the game. BULL SHIT. So real sniping is now deemed "hard-scoping" where you ADS and scan an area.

quick scoping is alright but i havent come across a lot of quick scopers in Blops but the ones i have , have failed since i was using an AUG
also i prefer the guillotine over crucifixions for watching

"Quickscoping" refers to an element of gameplay design found in some consolized FPS games. Essentially, if you are holding a sniper rifle and aiming it near an enemy, when you press the "use scope" button, the weapon will automatically aim at the target's head. If you press the "use scope" button and then fire quickly enough, you are almost guaranteed a headshot on any target that is moving at less than a significant fraction of the speed of light.

Many console gamers enjoy this because it eschews traditional (read: boring) tactics such as patience, planning and leading your shots, and favors Mountain Dew-fueled ADHD twitch reflexes, as well as allows a greater number of opportunities to scream "BOOM HEADSHOT!" into a microphone*.

I think quick-scoping does take a little more skill than people complain about, but it's being made less skilled by the inclusion of all sorts of automatic aim-assists etc.

I think there should be some penalty on accuracy for quickscoping like there would be in real life. You might be able to sight down the barrel of a gun quickly in real life and fire, but quickly in real life is still a couple of seconds. Add some really obnoxious blurring or shaking for two seconds when the scope is up.

OT:

When COD has so many broken features like the knife and Second Chance, I really couldn't care less about someone being able to quickscope or not. I can't do it myself so I never saw what the problem was.
