Right, so since the third installment is here, the classes and combat has officially been introduced and fleshed out, all different from each other and expanded to their full potential. So naturally there is a poll for this thread, what class do you like playing the most? You don't have to give why.

My personal favorite is the Infiltrator, I love using the sniper rifles in Mass Effect and the ability to cloak is pretty fun. Sticky grenades are also fun too.

EDIT: Infiltrators and Vanguards are still leading, but the Engineers and Sentinels are trailing behind.

I like the Pure classes more than the hybrids. Engineer and Adept specifically. Being more power heavy means more explosive combos

Vanguard. Hyper aggressive biotic wrecking ball.

Although it was unfortunately rather overpowered in ME3. You can break the game, both in single and multi player by speccing for quick recharge times then just spamming charge-nova-charge-nova etc.

Definitely the Infiltrator. Cloak is a fantastic ability for offense and defense: either giving you a very nice boost to a snipe-shot or flicking it on and getting the fuck outta there. That and I just prefer the power of the sniper rifles. I hate having to play whack-a-mole with some guy across the room, picking away at his health every time he pops up. I'd much rather take one shot at him and be done with it.

I used to love the Adept simply because I like throwing around Warp hadukins and causing biotic explosions with the combos. But no matter what it just doesn't stand up to the pure stopping power of the Mantis, the Widow, and now the granddaddy of them all: the Black Widow. Best frickin' gun ever.

:p In multiplayer, at least, the Charge-Nova-Charge-Nova trick will only get you so far. You'll get pretty messed up if you try that in the later waves of Silver and Gold. Though I have heard that a Vanguard with that spec can solo Bronze.

Vanguard in the main game (with Energy Drain as my bonus power). Vanguard (Human) and Engineer (Salarian) in multi.

Adept's always been my favorite... unless we're talking about ME1. ME1 = Vanguard + Singularity. Can't beat that. :D

Soldier. Krogan Soldier the ME3 multiplayer to be exact.

Specced for defense and melee damage you're a walking tank that happily headbutts and bitchslaps everything in his path, sometimes laughing like a maniac. Sometimes I don't fire my Claymore even once in the entire mission. Pair me up with a class with Overload to take down shields and barriers I you can do some serious damage. Carnage and Inferno Grenades are also decent powers for softening up your targets before you go slaphappy. Sure, charging headlong into the enemy to go 'KROGAN SMASH!' is risky, but so fun to play.

When I feel more like playing support I go Human Engineer. I like their versatility. Overload for taking down defenses and stunning the cannon fodder. Incinerate for softening armor and making the cannon fodder scream like a *****. Combat Drone is IMO pretty useless for combat, but great as a distraction or making Guardians turn their backs toward you.

EDIT: come to think of it, what I really want to play is a Hanar Vanguard. Slapping a giant jellyfish in enemies faces with Biotic Charge. It would be grand.

Infiltrator

I tend to prefer sniper classes in games that give me a choice. However, that said, I'm really only thinking about how much I liked the class in ME2/ME3. I felt rather indifferent toward Infiltrator in ME1. It was alright... but most of the environments felt far too small and cramped to really take advantage of your skill set. I found in ME1 I was more often using my sidearm than my sniper rifle.

My honorable mention would definitely go to Adept. I had a lot of fun with the class, although it's kind of the opposite of the Infiltrator to me. I LOVED Adept in ME1 (especially on repeat playthroughs where I could spec into Shotguns!), but merely liked it in ME2/ME3. I liked that they added in combo attacks and whatnot... but the class still didn't feel anywhere near as powerful to me as it did in ME1. I loved being able to perma-Stasis Geth Colossi and even Saren himself while still being able to dish out the pain (on both Hardcore and Insanity my Adept didn't let Saren fire off a single attack at her).

Soldier,

I let my team do all the fancy biotic/engineer work.
I shoot everything that moves!

Major agreement here. I got ME1 when ME2 came out and my friend plaid an Infiltrator by pure chance. She told me it's way better in ME2 and I should go with it to get used to my skill set. I did find my sidearm more useful than my sniper rifle, but I used it occasionally, in ME2 and ME3 it's the other way around. For both campaigns, I kept and SMG for back up incase my Sniper and Heavy Pistol are out of ammo, so I make it as light as possible.

Engineer

Overload is a stun lock that wrecks shields. Drone can clean up weaker enemies and distract stronger ones. Incinerate can weaken armor. I can guard a flank by myself.

Right now I'm really digging the Engineer, so that's my choice. I can't say any of them are actually bad though soldier is a little boring compared to the rest and doesn't seem to offer much in multiplayer.

Vanguard is my number one favorite since the first game but ME3 has really made the class even better. I love zipping around the multiplayer maps with biotic charge and then using nova or my shotgun to finish the job. Not as fun in single though. I tend to stick to shockwave unless I'm certain I won't get my stupid self killed charging into the wrong group of enemies.

Infiltrator is my second favorite. There is nothing more satisfying than having Liara spam singularity while I pick off all those Cerberus agents as they float helplessly through the air.

As for the others, Adept is weird for me because all those biotic abilities seem redundant. I don't see the need for pull, throw and shockwave. They accomplish nearly the same thing. I've dabbled with the Sentinel and Engineer classes in multi. They are more fun than being a soldier, which I find boring, but not as fun as my top two.

I like the Soldier, mainly for versatility. The ability to carry more weapons allows me to better adapt on the battlefield. Shields, Barriers, Armor, big, small, fast, slow, the Soldier's got a solution somewhere on his back.

Sentinel, I like the idea of a jack-of-all-trades. Someone who can go in and handle any situation.

Although I have the sneaking suspicion that Bioware/EA really wants you to play soldier.

I'm primarily a vanguard. Oddly enough, I find it hard to play one of he more "crouch behind cover and shoot/use powers" roles after zooming around the battlefield(charge, nova, et cetera). I like to tote a shotgun with no sidearm in part three as my powers reload instantly, allowing sick combos(charge, nova, pull field, omniblade, shotgun). Too powerful

I would assume the same since everytime I buy a pack, my fem soldier gets a boost and not my infiltrator...hmm, odd...I've actually gotten nothing for my infiltrator, kind of a pain.
