A common question, but I haven't seen a thread about this in a while. Which class in Team Fortress 2 is your favorite and why?

Personally I prefer the scout. Nothing beats the feeling of double jumping across the map, approaching the enemy from behind and blowing them to pieces with my strange Force-A-Nature.

I'm gonna go with the Pyro/Demoman hybrid. Because black Scottish cyclopses with flamethrowers sounds awesome.

Soldier, both gameplay-wise (Beggar's Bazooka + Gunboats ftw, it's basically flight!) and personality-wise

I think having Pyro/Demoman in one thing is going to really skew the vote, to be honest.

Pretty much this. You probably should have grouped two other classes together.

OT: I picked the Pyro/Demoman hybrid (in case that wasn't already obvious), specifically for the Pyro, in fact I really quite dislike the Demoman.

BONK!

At the moment it's the Scout. For ages I was loving Medic but I prefer to stick with one person and so many randoms are just plain dumb.
I gave away most of my TF2 items when I stopped playing a while back after my laptop could no longer play it, before I got my new computer. So I don't really have a great item set, but I very much enjoy my Soda Popper.

I play most of the classes regularly, with Medic/Heavy being the exceptions.
Heavies are prone to being instantly killed by 2/9 classes, Medics are largely dependent on who they are healing. Potatoes do not defend, Medic runs a large risk in going on the offense.

As for my favorite...probably the Scout. I like the boosted movement speed and I'm a shotgun buff. With the Sandman, I'm able to stun targets (especially Heavies), take the objective twice as fast, kill enemy Medics/Spies rather easily, control the middle ground and escape to safety most of the time. Thus, if my team needs a good presence at middle and somebody who is able to swoop the objective among the commotion, I go Scout.

Which needless to say, is a lot.
No problems with that, though!
A versatile glass cannon is quite fun to play.

I play all of them, and even which ones I frequent changes fairly often. At the moment, I'm on a Scout/Pyro streak for competitive, Scout/Spy for co-op (and I'll play Engie whenever is necessary, for either).

I guess I'll go with Scout. After all, I love the Baby Face's Blaster (double-speed Scout, for the win) and going melee. Especially when I can draw upon the sheer WTF from people who can't keep up, or by chasing down other scouts.

I have the most time on the soldier(Who is my favorite character), but my favorite class to play is the Medic, especially when the people I'm healing know what they're doing.

*Blam!* Wave goodbye to your head, wanker!

I like hanging out a bit at the pack and pick people and sentries off from a distance, it feels like taking things in your own pace. Other snipers and spies are the only real worry, unless a scout slips the net.

I am mainly playing as the Sniper at the moment. I enjoy camping and taking people out at range without them ever seeing me. I also like the character of the Sniper.

Speaking of sniping from a distance, does anyone know any good maps with wide open spaces like balloon race but not balloon race?

Heavy or Pyro for me. Heavy if I want to tank and Pyro if I want to run about like a crazy person setting people on fire, not much more justification is needed imo.

I will usually adopt the class the team requires the most in order to win. Frequently this can be the heavy as I'm bloody brilliant as one - sure it's just point and click from the outside but being able to spycheck, move, ambush, block, protect medics and soak are skills that are difficult to see. Sure they're weak against snipers and spies but the first can be avoided by simply not attempting to go to open areas - where you are weak anyway - and spies can be checked for.

I'm actually quite terrible as a demoman, I haven't played it enough and I can't quite get the trajectory and speed of grenades mastered. I play to win and play for my team so I rarely will play the class I am not good at - unless the map calls for sticky bombs in a specific area.

It's been scout for 5 years. Nothing beats a game playing good old vanilla scout.
Although if it was personality wise it would have to be the soldier, who doesn't love a homicidal man child with a hard-on for America?

I like to be the Heavy, because I like being able to push and get shit done. Plus, being the attention of medics is always fun.
Am I seriously the only Hoovy who ever tossed out his sandvich to people? I never see anyone else do it, but it is so helpful when medic-buddy has been hurting.

To be thoroughly honest, though, I like all the classes. Each one fits a different situation and you must usually adapt to fight the enemy. For such reasons, I rarely main a character for an entire game.
The only classes I rarely play are sniper (because my computer can barely handle low settings without mediocre framerate issues) and medic, simply because I don't play that much and spending all my time helping someone else do well doesn't fit my time schedule.

I play Heavy almost exclusively in PvP.

And i play Demoman almost exclusively in MvM.

I don't play that often anymore. But when I do, I try to enjoy all the classes.

However, my vote goes to the Spy because that was the class that got me interested in the game. It's a small level of espionage that isn't usually found in multi-player games, of course, as the game has progressed it has become more difficult to play with rampant Spy-checking, so now it's more about quick insertion and ex-filtration.

Anyone that doesn't choose Demoman clearly has no idea what they're talking about and should be shot.

Same here. I still need to get a hold of a Beggar's Bazooka.
