I like sushi, but if we're talking fish of random origin and dubious freshness, I'd just as soon that bad boy were battered and deep-fried within several inches past it's life.
Salmon is good baked, smoked, and/or in chowder, though.
I avoid fish like the plague. I hate the taste of most seafood I've ever eaten and the only seafood I've ever had that hasn't made me ill afterwards was (oddly enough) sushi (although I'm not entirely sure the sushi I had involved actual fish).
Plus, working in a kitchen has given me a new hatred for fish every time it is ordered.
Seared with a good dressing is always nice for fresh (as in caught that day) fish. Baked in foil with a creamy garlic sauce is another way to make some very nice fish fillets.
Either deep-fried or raw, depending on the fish in question... I don't really have a reason why I like my fish that way, but now I'm hungry for some fish...
Then again, all this talk about fish is reminding me of Mr. Scuff right now...
The BBQ option, minus the tin foil... and the barbecue. Just use wood, flint and steel... or a lighter, if you're feeling lazy.
catch it
gut it
roast it on an open fire
Of course, not everyone lives a few hundred feet from an abundant rainbow trout run... so if it must be someone else's catch from hours, days, or (and I shudder to think this) weeks before... smoke it, preserve it, eat it slowly.
I initially read this as "I've not smoked fish before"
OT: I prefer battered generally, but after having it I would prefer not to do so again for another week (it's kind of greasy, but so is most british food)
Breaded is pretty good too, so it's kind of situational
For me, it has to be grilled salmon or tuna, for me nothing quite beats them in terms of fish, especially when it crumbles off your fork. Mmmmmm... I don't really like batter, so that is an instant no as far as I am concerned.
I'm not a fish lover. Having grown up eating fish regularly, I can safely say that it is not for me. Even the smell is enough to make me gag sometimes. The irony is that I live on an island, and fish is easily obtainable and a common dish.
