So I've been scanning through the hot topics of the Escapist forum and I've recently noticed something. I've noticed that, besides the news articles, the collective creativity of the posts have decreased increasingly in recent weeks. Is this some form of degenerative regression in terms of the forum's demographic? Maybe I've just grown slightly cynical in the last few weeks or maybe it's because I've just finished Flowers for Algernon and the thought of intellectual regression is stirring in my brain.

Edit: Heh, five for five for five on the poll. For some reason I find that amusing.

I have noticed a lot of unoriginality in some threads, but not enough to say things are "taking a turn for the worst."

Also, Flowers for Algernon was an awesome book.

A bit. It happens sometimes. Perhaps somebody should make a graph.

We get the occasional troll, and some pretty medium theads, and yet we get alot of golden ones, thought provoking threads about games and ideology i have yet to encounter anywhere else, probably because the majority of the People on here dont make me want to vomit.

Were not going down hill and if you think so why not make some intellectual threads and the like if you feel so strongly about it.

Ahh... Just noticing it now? The decline of the Escapist has been accelerating slowly since even before I was here. Still, it's a great place. Just try to encourage originality and intelligence by example if you can.

I am pleased that I got the reference the second I saw the title.
And that I immediately knew what the thread would be about.

Basically this. I have noticed an influx of people who can't seem to type, however.
That's what scares me. I declare that the Escapist should host a spell workshop on the website! Who's with me? -Manic glee-

To put it bluntly, No

This is just bitching about the forums going to hell.

We can´t have an eternal Golden Era, not even in here. There has to be periods of mediocrity and regression, so that in the future our flowers will bloom all the more brighter. Even nature needs time to rest before renewing itself.

Well this is all easily solved. Anyone reading this post who voted for yes and who thinks of themselves as an intellectual should go out and make a thought provoking post. In fact I'll go make one now.

Flowers For Algernon was awesome. The movie was good too. I think that The Escapist has degraded a bit, but not totally. I think eventually it will begin to slip past hope. Lets hope that is a long ways off.

1. Read Flowers for Algernon. Awesome book.
2. The threads seem ok, but general answers seem to be a bit worse, containing an inordinate amount of "Lol" like responses. Not that there's anything wrong with that in itself, but they generally don't bode well for some not-hipsters/intellectuals.

That is not how the book ends.
The one I read does. It also had fluffy bunnies and kittens wearing mittens.

Flowers for Algernon was awesome.

No i haven't seen any regression in the intellegence.

The longer i've been here, the more often do i notice duplicate threads, cause i've seen more threads.
