"Lead designers Zied Reike Rieke and Steve Fukuda, programmer Rayme Vinson and lead artist Chris Cherubini are confirmed to have left according to "sources close to the studio"."
It looks like with the announcement of Respawn Studios, the exodus at IW has increased in speed and the ammount of people.
Two lead designers, a programmer and a lead artist sounds like serious business to me.
So, is IW finally done for it?
EDIT: It must really mean I'm a hopeless fanboy if I actually spotted a mistake in the name of one of the devs in the article.

IW is just a shell, it is the people that made it what it is that is important.
I hope the people who are quiting go to Respawn Studios. I know I would.
That way IW lives on under a new name...
But chances are, Activision will just fill the gaps with new blood.
A lot of gamers know IW make good games, but they may not know that the staff is leaving, so they would still buy anything with 'Infinity Ward' printed on it.

The Infinity Ward that made all of those good games is gone, but with such a popular name Activision won't be willing to completely dismantle the studio.

Even if every last IW employee leaves, IW will still continue to exist with replacement staff, if only to sell off a game or two on the name alone.

I'd say that they'd still buy anything with MW logo on it - for many people even the development studio is irrelevant.
Also, curious timing, don't you think? I mean, I'd be glad if they all got accepted into Respawn but it does sound a little too coincidental.
On the other hand, if everything was alright and Activision was innocent, they wouldn't have quite.

Activision lawyers must be very busy now dispatching lawsuits.
On what terms?
I mean, even if there were mutual agreements between IW and EA, all those people had all the right to quit.
In fact, as far as I'm concerned, it's all these guys who have an edge due to the stories with unpaid royalties and interrogations.

Indeed.
But they had a good thing going on. And it shows, in the loyalty of the staff.
They are willing to walk out of a job over this. It shows how good the team was. They know they had it working. If an outside influence tries to control and change it, they leave, and go back to their original bosses.
Not many people would risk quiting a job during a recession. So they must have a place secured, and I am betting it is with Respawn Studios.

The studio will almost certainly carry on in name only, but without the people that made it so, it'll no longer truely be Infinity Ward.

I get the impression they were a pretty tight-knit studio, so I don't think these are the last people we hear about leaving.

Sure it takes more than those 6 people to make a game, but I imagine the rest of the staff are none-too-happy about the situation. I can imagine a lot of them moving to Respawn now actually. They were a very good team, they just got bum-fucked by Activision so West and *forgotten his name* have no reason to not hire them back up.

That would be a quite pleasant outcome for me.
Especially considering the fact that I started liking EA more and more.

This lends more and more credence to Activision's argument against the original duo that they engineered something.

I mean things seem to be moving way too fast.
It still doesn't change the fact that Activision is undoubtedly responsible for something.
I mean, there was another guy who recently quit IW on his own, and went to work to some PS3-exclusive development studio (Big Huge Games, if I'm not mistaken).

All it will take is a couple of shitty games in a row to make people not trust IW. If their lead team is gone, maybe that may be the case for the future.

I know I hardly trust Silicon Knights after Too Human. It's sad seeing as how Eternal Darkness was so sublime.

It's 11 actually. 11 people have quit in spite of these events.

It's Vince Zampella.
Excuse my fanboyism.

they are rolling in too much money to die. Even if their games suck they are rolling in money and all the employees who leave will just be replaced.

Haha, no worries. I think you mean "because of these events" though. "In spite of" means the same as "despite".

Ah, you're right.
I must have lost my chain of thought there.
English's not my native language, anyway.

How many are left? Because Nadeo managed to make the best racing game ever with only 18 people...

I have no idea. I bet that a lot of people are left, however, most of the people gone are from the times of Call Of Duty 2 so the studio is losing its main players.
I think Roycewicz is still there but that's about it.

Well they will just continue the francise with the same characters with slightly altered names and appearences.

Captain Prince?
Maybe Captain King? or how about Showergel McRavish?

I actually kinda hope IW closes it's doors, they havn't done a WW2 CoD since 2, and that is the best CoD ,ever, period. They need to be punished by getting there P45's of Activision for there henious crimes of not diong another WW2 shooter.
