God, I love that series. Loved the manga. The first anime series was pretty good, loving the second one so far. Watched the second episode of Brotherhood the other day, the actual beginning of the manga. Damn near cried. Proof of its awesomeness.

I just started watching the show due to recommendation from my friends. Anime is nothing new to me, so naturally I enjoy watching it. The only major problem I see with it is the lame English voice acting, but thats probably because I normally do subs over dubs. Its pretty good so far, but what do you all think of the show?
Brotherhood's the good one. Make SURE it's Brotherhood. The only voice in that one that sucked was Al's and even he didn't SUCK suck. Ed, Mustang, Scar, Bradley, fuck, everyone in the anime sounds awesome in my mind.

But yeah. It's good. Really, really good. It's one of the few shows where I genuinely cared about the characters, and I only found other shows after Brotherhood, so it's an astounding first for me.

I personally enjoyed it thoroughly but the English version is very lame and so I'd recommend you watch it either in Japanese or just watch FMA: Brotherhood. Brotherhood is much, much better.

I like the manga better but Brotherhood has helped. I recommend Code Geass THAT is the best anime but the manga sucked.

The manga is much better than the Anime.
And Brotherhood is better than the first series IMO.

I actually like the voices though.
Lust is just....ohhhh Lust...
And Armstrong had the perfect voice for his character.

"NOW, Bear witness to the style of Alchemy passed down through the Armstrong GENERATIONS as you read this in my voice!"
Fuhrer Bradley had a pretty good voice actor as well. I loved how he could switch between being happy and being angry. It was great.

On Topic: Fullmetal Alchemist is a pretty good anime. I like the first anime more than the second anime but much of that could be due to nostalgia. FMA: Brotherhood is a pretty good anime. The voice acting is just as good as the first one but I am a bit sad that they replaced Scar's voice actor.

It was the anime that really got me into anime so I think it was pretty okay.

I prefer Full Metal Jacket.

"This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine."
Full Metal Panic is better
"Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless."
hm that's true
Full Metal Jacket, cult classic, and great Vietnam film. I have never much been into anime, but that is because I have little to no experience with it. If I found I good one I am sure I would enjoy it.

Since you mention the dub, you're clearly watching the first anime.

Stop it. There's nothing wrong with the dub, in fact it's one of the better dubs among anime (good dubs like Bebop and FLCL are the exception, most dubbing is terrible, get used to reading subs if you don't want your ears to bleed). FMA fans don't like the first one because of the terrible ending, which you should avoid watching. It's stroke-inducingly stupid.

If you absolutely HAVE to get your FMA in an animated, voiced form, watch FMA: Brotherhood. Naturally they still can't get it right and they screw up the first part with a first episode that never happened, then skimming over everything the original series had right instead of just redoing the damn episodes properly, but at least everything after around episode 10 is true to the source and much, much better than the first series' screwed up second half.

If you actually care about getting the best story, read the manga.

Both of the FMA series are the only anime I've ever cared for, but I'd much rather watch it dubbed then subbed. The only anime I watch subbed is Highschool of the Dead, and that's because there isn't a dubbed version for it yet . So for this reason, I am still searching for a dubbed version of episode 27 for Brotherhood.

As far as dubbed animes go this one has the most believable voices, rather than tons of people going around like they've been castrated, also the entire plot line is excellent if you take the time to figure it out

I'm sorry but FMA is one of the better/best dubbed Anime out there, I love the show but Ed and Al's squeaky Japanese girl voices just pull me from the story right into a the startling realization that I'm actually watching a cartoon.

The English dub does not do that to me.

It's a fantastic anime(both series) and my recommendation is you shouldn't deprive yourself of it.
Because their english squeaky voices are better?

OT: It's great dubbed, because they don't insist on using THOSE GODDAMN JAPANESE NAMES WITH WESTERN VOICES. THEY DON'T MIX. LIKE APPLE AND THE BUFFET.
