Poll: G4...What happened?

I remember when I first discovered G4 about 6 years ago.

I had just moved and gotten Comcast and found an [b/]all gaming channel.[/b]

I had watched it everyday until me and my family switched to Dish (which fucking sucks btw). Not to mention, they didn't have G4, so obviously, i was pissed.

Then about a year after words, I got Comcast again, and found G4. I watched it and thought to myself, "What the fuck is this?!!"

All it was was Cops and Cheaters for about 12 hours, then Attack of the Show (which is alright, but can get pretty irritating.) then X-Play.

What happened to my favorite channel??

I'm sure I can speak for other people. Now, its just crappy movies, two shitty reality shows, and one good show that they try to cram every bit of gaming into half an hour.

So I want to know, what do my fellow Escapists think?

Oh, and I used the search bar and only found a bunch of articles about Yahtzee going on X-Play.

When G4 took over Techtv. I refuse to call it a "merger". Even Xplay's gone downhill. Their reviews are far too bias.

this is true. Its just spike with a wierd twist. "totally outragous videos"? "The international sexy ladies show" (half the stuff is weird fetish crap and nothing I'm interested in)? it has really hit rock bottom.

Spike, thats it. Thats exactly what its turned into, except Spike actually has 2 good shows, as opposed to G4's one.

You took the words right out of my mouth. And I really hate what AOTS has become. In the early days it was interesting and surprisingly helpful. But when Olivia soon joined it quickly became shit. The hosts say and do stupid random shit and think their super cool. I have nothing against the show itself, but the hosts just ruin it for me.

I agree, I fail to see how rerunning cops 2.0 for one 12 hours, and cheaters for the other 12 hours is bring them more money than producing good original content.

and also the new show "web soup" is a rip-off of comedy central's "Tosh.0" and I can't stand "cheaters". What does that have to do with video games?

I like G4 it's not like your forced to watch Cheaters and Cops so just change the channel it's not that hard

The ads they run still claim that G4 is "TV for Gamers". I just want to meet the guy who decided that gamers like Cops or Cheaters. Both of those shows are awful and have nothing to do with the stations supposed theme.

I also hate G4 rewind. Why do I need to see xplay's review of "Bioshock" again? why do I need to hear about the release of the PS3 after its released?

I used to be a die hard tech tv fan, once they were taken over by g4, it was nothing but pandering to 13 yr olds so i refused to tune in.

I remember watching AOTS and it being somewhat cool (I just watched it mainly for the Feed and the sexy English girl who hosted that part. Wonder what happened to her?) but now, its just shitty viral videos and crappy jokes.

Even X-Play has gone down since they switched. I used to laugh my ass off whenever X Play was on, now its just basic reviews.

I remember the day when I watched that channel... when X-Play was pretty fun (at least, when I thought it was), and some of the shows actually had some nice information or entertainment value.

Now, the only reason I'll ever watch it is for... actually... I don't ever watch the station, unless there is nothing else on, and I've no other entertainment opportunities than to watch its... "programming".

Unfortunately, I think it's trying to appeal to my generation, because most of my friends thought that the channel originally sucked, and is now awesome... unfortunately, I never saw TechTV, so all I know of is G4, and something in me thinks that I should be extremely pissed off about that xD

Yes, but they review a game like once a week now. I liked it when they review every game that comes out even the obviously crappy ones. And they always do it with satirical humor.
