what happened to G4?

well, it became G4.

gone are the smart TV shows which displayed cutting edge tech and keen and intresting things. in are the stupid shows filled with mearly buxom babes and crude fart jokes.

watching Screen Savers turn into Attack of the Show was just painful


the execs which run the show fell into the same sterotypical hole most all non-gamers do. Video games are for children... so lets make that our demographic and aim for that. forget the fact that the demographic for a healthy majority of video game players is 18-23 (thanks to sony and their PS2 campaign.)

I miss the other review show Judgement Day, the hosts seemed really unbiased.
I also miss when X-Play could fit 4 Reviews and 3 skits in just an episode with some truely memorable charecters(BRING BACK RATTY HANDPUPPET!)

I just hope those who run G4 see the errors in their ways...I doubt they will but it would be nice.

In Canada they had to keep a certain amount of tech programming, and are still called G4TechTV. They don't run all the crap that G4 in the States does. The current line-up of shows that I can remember are:

AOTS
X-Play
EP Daily
Reviews On The Run
Lab With Leo (Though they cancelled it for some stupid reason, it still airs in reruns)
Code Monkeys
Freaks and Geeks (Not a bad show. I missed it when it airs many moons ago)
Torrent (Web and viral videos)
C-Net TV
Some random computer shows in the mornings
Unbeatable Banzuki

During commercial breaks they show mini reviews or games, movies and tech devices. The best of the Shows are EP Daily (all about games, comic books, movies, and music0, Reviews On The Run (Best game review show on TV), and X-Play

AOTS is good when Olivia Munn and the other guy aren't hosting. I love Blair Butler. Chris Hardwick is cool. Alison Hayslip is alright. The other guest hosts that they have o are usually ten times better then The main hosts.

Why do Canadians get everything good...

Well, to be fair, we did have to put up with Celine Dion years before she became world famous, so I figure it was just owed to us.

Just another reason why I should move to Canada...

What ever happend to TechTV? They merged with G4 and then the G4 part kind of ate the TechTV part.

I'm glad to see though I'm not the only one who liked the old more satirical X-Play.

On a slightly off topic note, does anyone remember when X-Play was Extended Play?

The only thing I've watched on G4 for the past few months is The Star Wars Comic Con coverage, well, that and Ninja Warrior.

I miss the old G4 so much I could frikkin cry about it. Seriously I thought Portal was a fucking amazing show. Judgment Day is another one I love cause they were funny and entertaining. Arena was also amazing and I know I keep using the word Amazing but thats what they were. Obviously there were more like Game On, G4tv.com, Cinematech, Filter I believe was another with that hot asian chick host and O shit I almost forgot CHEAT when Cory Rouse or however you spell his last name. All of the shows G4 use to have all had there own uniqueness and even if they were boring a bit its not like now where all they show are fuckin reruns like COPS and STAR TREK(Starwars is totally better) Unbeatable Banzuke and Ultimate Ninja are ok but they get boring after a while. Ever since they bought tech tv everything just went down hill. Before it was all about games 24/7 now its like a nerdier version of Spike TV.

Sure, games are great but look! We can get buxom lasses on screen for cheap and get a bunch more viewers!

It's really kind of sad.

I kind of want G4 to fail spectacularly and suck San Francisco into it, but I kind of don't. Sessler is someone who seems to care about his role. If only he wasn't surrounded by idiots.

G4 has turn to was spike and Cartoons are CRAP.I remember when they were having Ads for g4 on pringles tops.The shows i remember on their in 2003 to 2007 where.Arena,Pulse,Filter,Portal,Judgement Day.Cheat! with Cory Rouse,Cinematech,and X-play.
AOTS,i never like it.Its host is not funny trying to be funny.And Oliva is just a blow up doll that talks.

When I found G4 it was still a very sickly horse and not quite dead. It still was mostly[i/] gaming. I really enjoyed X-Play and AOTS, I never really enjoyed cinematech though...

As far as I can remember, G4 has always sucked tremendously. All it did was replace TechTV's brilliance with unwatchable drivel.

I resent what they did to X-Play, and I definitely resent the fact that not only did they replace all the wonderful TechTV shows that lived up to the name "TechTV" (Fresh Gear, for example), they took away Screen Savers and replaced it with Attack of the Show. The sad thing is that it was only weeks before the merger occurred that I really started to appreciate Screen Savers, and then, when that merger sprung up out of nowhere, it was gone.

Yeah G4 has turned into Spike 2. I mean there is nothing wrong with watching extremely homo-erotic MMA if you are into that. but G4 has never been "BIG MANLY MEN CHANNEL" material, that has always been left to spike. I'm just saying that because G4 is truing into this "GUYS OVER HERE LOOK AT MY BOOBS!" type of thing and it really doesn't appeal me any more. Poor X-play too, it turned into IGN not the good part of IGN BTW.
