I think you should XD I have a tattoo of the Seal of Samael from Silent Hill cause I'm a nerd. But what's wrong with that? That Ookami one looks awesome, plus that one of the triforce. <3
For a while there I was acutally considering a Pyramid Head tattoo but decided it was too contemporary and probably fleeting. Boo is the safer option ^_^

So it all depends on how well the tattoo is done and what it's about.
Exactly, I think as long as the image holds a sense of style and speaks to you then there should be no reason to be afraid of committing to it.

I myself am thinking of getting either a combine or a rebels (HL2) tat when I am older.
seems cliche but who cares, my choice.
That's the spirit!

Yay! Okami! But as great as the Okami tattoo was, I still think it isn't a good idea to make those game based. It's just a game people. I understand it's becoming an increasingly popular medium, but it's not a good reason to paint yourself in it.

While I do agree that the guys with those tattoos have no "inspiration" for drawing such things on their body, I believe a tattoo should be a sign that you contribute your body to art. Or the people with names of their "loved ones" to show their love for those people. Or to show that that was a person he/she tried to get in bed with. I do realize that people are inspired by games but a piece of brain always thinks "Is that really necessary?" when I see a game tattoo. To me, you're giving into media, not art.
Hmmm I could get involved in a heated debate with you to defend games as a form of art but I'm pretty sure there's numerous forum topics on that already.
In a conventional sense, games are a form of art - inking yourself with an image or a scene from a game is dedicating a part of your body to something that compels to you on a physical, mental or emotional level. I believe it's just as credible as having any other form of art tattoed onto your skin.

If their awesomeness transcends gaming (like Kratos' swords, or guns) then hell yes! But otherwise it kinda makes you look like a nerd. It reminds me of the guy in Wild Hogs who tattooed the Apple symbol on his arm.
then my bio prof must be a HUGE nerd because he said that he'd get a Gregor Mendel tattoo! LOL!

I already have a non-gaming related fox on my left shoulder blade that I got when I turned 18. Now I would like to get another, but I'm still deciding on what/where to get my next one.

I'd love to do something as a tribute to being raised a geek/nerd/insert-dorky-adjective-here through Star Wars and other parts of the sci-fi/fantasy culture in which I was brought up. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game particularly inspired me when I was younger to really delve into that world, and so I am considering getting my favorite character from the game, HK-47 (an assassin droid!) either on my back or along my side.
Here are some pictures of him:

As long as you can live with it and love it like the day you got it, what everyone else thinks doesn't matter. :)

More minds like yours are needed in the world.
Now while I agree that you shouldn't care what people think its no reason not to think long and hard about what you really want tattooed on you. I wait at least 6 months on each tattoo idea before I think about making a new appointment.
My next one is September I think.

if it is what you want, then go ahead and get it man. but make sure it really means something to you before you do it. my wife has a tattoo of ryu from breath of fire 3 because that is the first game she ever played and it means something to her.

The idea of a tattoo never really resonated with me, but the idea of a Triforce tattoo is nothing less than awesome.

After seeing the one in the OP and one from another escapist(don't remember the name, but the picture), the Triforce seems like the best of candidates if I ever got a tattoo.

Honestly, that Okami one looks pretty badass. If there's a GOOD gaming tattoo out there, I don't see why people shouldn't get one.
Yeah, that one looked good. But I've seen other theme ones that looked good and resonated with the person. You want to be sure you will like it still even when the reference is 20 years out of date and no one else gets it.

But if you really like it and it means something to you, why not?

I should report you for a biased poll, since in your topic there are only people who "hate on" and people who "dig" said material.

But hey, whatever.

Anyway, like Sonic says, "It's your body!"

I would never get one, though I have often thought about it, but...It just doesn't seem my type of thing to do. It's very, like, if I could turn the damn thing off when I wanted it off.

Like why does everyone need to constantly know about my love of Zelda? Why put anything on my back, I would never get to see it. It's for me, isn't it? Not the rest of the world to shit on or say "lol that guys cool cuz marios on his arm!" I don't know. I just really don't see the point. There's other ways to express oneself or express love for something. I think some Celtic designs are pretty awesome, but do I really want it all over my arm all the time? It's a tough decision, living with something for the rest of your life.

I voted indifferent. I really don't care if people have them, but I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo of any sort.

I'm not saying they're stupid or anything, honestly I think some tattoos are awesome. For example, Burton C. Bell, vocalist of Fear Factory has awesome (non-gaming) tattoos on his arm.

If I ever get a tattoo, it may or may not be game related...and it'll be small. I don't want to turn into a walking painting.

Hmmm you're like my tattoo arch-nemesis, you see them from a completely polarised perspective to me.
That's cool though, I respect your opinion and all but explain - why does a Zelda tattoo need to portray your love of the Zelda series to anyone but yourself?

No one said you had to get it on your back?I have my Tokidoki tatt on my chest and it's there for me, I don't really take my shirt off every chance I get so I can show it off? In fact I'm quite modest about revealing my body. The tattoo is there because I like the design, I like what it stands for and what it means to me.
Some people rate it and others don't, doesn't matter to me one bit really.

Tattoos are something you get done for you and you alone.
Getting a tattoo to please//impress or fit in with other people is the completely wrong way to approach body art imo.

Dumbest thing you can possibly ever do.
Actually, I'd say posting a ridiculously subjective opinion without backing it up with any coherent sort of explanation rates much higher on the Dumb-ometer.

It seems the same reason you get a tattoo is the same reason I keep a jpg of things I like? :/

Yes, I would only be getting it for myself. But if I can't even see it the right way I want to...the point is?

I wanted the old code tattoo'd on my back at some point, but then I realized I might as well just wear a shirt with it on it instead.

I think tattoos are stupid, but if I had one it would be game related. Probably a triforce or something like that.

I'd definitely want to get a tattoo one of these days.

What it would be, I'm still unsure of. I'd like it to have more meaning than 'Oh, it's a cool symbol from a game I liked 20 years ago', but I'd also like to look at it and remember something. Thus, I think if I could work out something that made me remember my two dear dogs, aswell as something else, I'd go for it. If a game could provide that 'something else', I'd choose it, no question.

Right now, I feel I don't have enough life-experience, nor has any game really provided what I search for yet to really get that tattoo that I'll be happy with until my dying breath.
