Long sessions for me , i can't just sit down and play a game for an hour . Though i think i may be addicted to videogames . If i only have an hour to kill , i usually don'e bother , because i will be late for whatever i have to do . I usually tell myself , one more game/match/random encounter/whatever, and then before i know it i'm an hour late !
These days I only play in short bursts. The longest I've gamed in the last few weeks was two hours of Hitman: Absolution. Usually it's a max of one hour, mostly TF2.
Nothing spoils an experience more than having to watch the clock. Long sessions that consume huge chunks of free time are my preference. Much that it dismayed the ex.
I play games on a handheld on my train commute, so those are always hour-ish long sessions, and if I have time I'll play an hour or so in the evenings but if I have a block of time on some weekend and don't have work to do and the weather is bad and the spouse isn't around then I'm happy to play something for several hours in a row.
Depends on how I feel and the game. Something like Borderlands 2 or Final Fantasy VII I can play for hours. Other games, like Painkiller or Crash Bandicoot, where there are levels that are on the shorter side, I can play a few (or just one) and then go off and do something else.
If I'm enjoying the game then I usually spend a long session if I can, if I don't have the time, then I usually don't bother and do something else.. Can never sit down and say to myself "Alright, I'll just do this one mission" then 3 missions later... -_-
Depends on the game. I'll crunch through some DOTA in 2 hours, but I try to stay under an hour for Dark Souls and any other games that don't require a long time investment. After 5 hours total is when I get burnt out, so I try to avoid that and keep gaming fresh.
For me It depends on the game if it is something very heavily story based it would be best to have a long session for it, however old school or arcade games that have little or no story I can play in short bursts.
Maybe an hour or two when I get home, and then I dedicate most of my weekend to gaming if I didn't have plans beforehand already planned. I also can't play video games if I know I'm specifically limited to a certain amount of time. Like, if I know I need to start getting ready to go somewhere in an hour, I just can't play games, even if I know it won't make me late or effect my schedule. I like to immerse myself in my games, and constantly knowing i have somewhere else to be while playing completely ruins that experience for me.
I'd assume longer sessions, although i don't like to play for more than a few hours before stopping to do other things. Even really great games can wear me out. I just don't like to sit in a chair with my eyes on the screen for too long (probably around 4~6 hours is too much for me)
I often play games in shorter sessions on my PSP and i'm okay with it, but sometimes it can be a real drag having to stop after 30 mins and getting to a really interesting part.
really depends, when i play sc2 or dota or something i have more fun playing for longer session since i need to get my groove but for other games i prefer shorter intervals. recent example would be Mgrr where my hands would hurt after about 45-60 min of play(shut up, i rarely play with a controller) and i just had to stop
