Depends; some people look ridiculous with any sort of beard or just can't grow them, and at least 75% of guys with beards look absolutely terrible. I have a pretty short and well-maintained beard, and so far I've only come across one person that doesn't like the finished thing (although some people didn't like it while it was growing in - myself included). That's bound to happen, though; some people just don't like facial hair, no matter how well-maintained it is.

Basically, there's a difference between growing a beard and being too lazy to shave.

Depends, really. I don't like anything between "small and directed" and "full on caveman". While some guys may look better with a small amount of beard, and great big bushy madness is great for eccentric people over forty, but most people are best off without.

This is why. Even if you look great with a beard, it's more... Considerate, to go without.

I am annoyed by teenagers with facial hair, mainly mustaches.

And not even full mustaches, they're thin but the little buggers refuse to shave it because it thinks it makes them look cool and whatever.
It doesn't, it makes you look unshaven.

gonna have to say that it depends on a few things

the guy's face, some are better with beards
the amount of facial hair, teenagers should NOT grow beards unless they can
the style, some types of beards look better on guys than others

and i think it will depend on if a woman likes a beard too, some women hate facial hair on men and some love it and to some it doesn't matter
Ambiguity for the win!

I don't like the full-bearded look on myself, but I do admit that I sport a good looking five-o'clock shadow. Pretty much everyone (including my wife) agrees that I'm far more attractive slightly unshaven.

The problem is that I have mutant facial hair which is one part hair and one part razorwire, so really it's like a trap. The girl sees me with the stubble and gets all turned on and kisses me and then RIP and half her face is gone and I'm all like, "HA HA! GOTCHA!"

I have a pretty sick Saxon beard going on. I'm 15 and one of the few guys I know that looks good with facial hair or can grow it properly.

I recall a guy named Chaz that I used to train with in Tang Soo Do. He was 12, yet he already had a mustache. Not just peach-fuzz, but a mustache.

And his kicks were powerful.

Considering this evidence, I'd have to assume that he was somehow related to Chuck Norris.

Speaking from experience, this isn't universal. I mean, I'm sure it's universally more considerate not to have razor wire growing on your face, but the hair doesn't need to be very long in order to be soft.

I used to have a short, trimmed beard but I shaved it very recently for a family gathering. Incidentally I cut myself shaving for the first time as well. It was a very surprising feeling. Right now I just look really scruffy and I'm going to shape it back down once it gets a certain length.

Oh, and about 90 percent of the people I know say I look better with it, so bearded it is.

Wouldn't soft hair still be bothersome? It'd get kind of ticklish, surely.

I voted pro-beard, but I think an indifferent option would be preferable. I like beards in general, but if I fancy a guy it makes no difference.
I'm gonna grow this bad boy out even if it kills me! Uuurrrggghhh! Stand back everyone...

We shall share ale in Valhalla brother!

But I have to admit, Viking beards are cool and all, but nothing can beat the Freeman:

Once me and some friends got this kid to grow a Hitler-s'tash. 3 days of contreversiol crazyness followed. so growing it out is cool, but no Hitler-S'tashs

I'm trying to grow a goatee and side-burns and because of my blonde hair and pale skin my sideburns are practically invisible, but my goatee is coming along nicely, I can only hope that it is worth it in the end.

Clean shaven for me. A day or two of stubble usually occurs before I get rid of it. The look is alright either way, but letting it grow too long defines the fact that it is still a little too thin for that sort of thing.

That and I find clean shaven nets better girls anyway (their preference).

I prefer to keep a permanent Clint Eastwood shadow, which I buzz with hair clippers whenever it gets too long. I'm lazy, but I also look a lot like Grissom with one... Which isn't really all that great, but still.

I find facial hair to be unappealing and disgusting.
You just made 6 basement forum goers run off and shave.
Meh, it's her loss. Our beards are our strength and virility, our very manliness. Without them... why, without them, we'd just be girls with penises.

That's where it isn't universal. The girl I'm with now quite likes it.
