gonna have to say that it depends on a few things

the guy's face, some are better with beards
the amount of facial hair, teenagers should NOT grow beards unless they can
the style, some types of beards look better on guys than others

and i think it will depend on if a woman likes a beard too, some women hate facial hair on men and some love it and to some it doesn't matter
I'd second most of this. Another point I'd make would be that most women I know hate the kind of beard that's obviously very well kept. Just seems a bit too feminine... (and yes I get the irony of that statement)
i third it!

I find facial hair to be unappealing and disgusting.
You just made 6 basement forum goers run off and shave.
Meh, it's her loss. Our beards are our strength and virility, our very manliness. Without them... why, without them, we'd just be girls with penises.
Quoted for hilarity. You'd also make a pretty good dwarf.

I tend to go either way, I had the beard going in highschool occasionally (not full but the freeman look), but now I'm pretty sure I look better without it.

I've had facial hair for the last 13 years (end of high school). Most of the women I know prefer guys with a bit of facial hair. Most things do come down to personal preference, but there are genetic...uhm...markers(?) that affect how a person views such things.

I like having chin hair, but nothing more. I habitually stroke my goatee when I'm thinking really hard, so I don't know what I'd do without it. I'll even go so far as to say that it makes me look... smart! A cleverer ploy, there never was.

Hmmm
to go bearded or to go not bearded.
With me it's usually a case of how lazy I am and how long its been since I last went out with girls....
...

my mechanical engineering course only has 2 girls (one of them is a knockout though :]) so laziness usually prevails.

I've been rocking my beard since I was 16 and haven't looked back. Goatees are no longer cool-- get with the times, nerds.

Goatees make everyone look like smart-aleck college nerds, while beards make everyone look like pirates.

Long live pirates.

QFT. Can't wait until my beard is long enough to braid and put shrunken skulls in.

There should be a "depends" option.

I personaly would like to grow one of those stripe goatees, as soon as I stop growing peach fuzz. It seems pretty easy to manage.
If that doesn't suit me, however, I'll grow a half-beard, and I will never shave it off.
Long live half-beard!

That's me behind Eugene Hutz

It can clearly be seen that the two sexiest men alive both have facial hair.

I've always stayed clean-shaven.* Partly because on some level I want to distinguish myself from my dad's full beard, but also a tendency to dislike itch and that the light color would make me look odd. Remember that's just what I suspect, not having firsthand evidence. :|

*OTOH, I tend to shave once a day in the evenings, and so have perma-Clint Eastwood stubble most days.

I have one younger brother with a civil-war style goatee, another with tendencies toward soul patches, and a third who's in the greasy teen laziness phase.

Someday I may go beardish, but not today. And kids? ZZ Top style efforts take ~8 years, according to Billy Gibbons.

I don't really have a strong preference one way or the other. I *don't* like exorbitant facial hair--if it looks like you're growing a bush on your face, please stop. My dad generally looks better with a beard now, but he went through several beard/no beard phases. When he was young and just getting into the Army he grew a beard because it made him look older (he looked 19 until he was almost 30)--when he went back to school he shaved it to look younger. Now he grows a beard to look younger, go figure.

My housemate has a tidy, if somewhat wispy mustache, but that's about all the facial hair he can really grow. It looks cute.

My brother Gareth was experimenting with the beard thing for a while probably just due to the novelty factor. I figure he looks fine either way.

If you are a fuzzy guy by nature I'd say go ahead and do the beard unless you live in a really hot climate. Otherwise it's probably not worth the effort.

I'm a teenager; facial hair is a nuisance for me.

So, I would have to say 'Clean Shaven', at least for the moment.

It depends on the guy. Some look fantastic without. Some look fantastic with. And to demonstrate this:

I have yet to meet someone attracted to men who would not tap at least two people from that photo, and it's a clear example of different facial features suiting different styles. It also depends on the person's colouring.

While I'm quite impressed by their ability to heft classical instruments only one of those guys looks vaguely human.

That is because you gaze not upon humans, but upon gods. Gods of metal, naturally.

Yep. The creepy little Gods that distant tribes carve into balsa wood.

Why does the thing on the right have a snooker ball in it's mouth?

Because he can probably... though I suspect it's just a trick of the photo.
