Not sure if this is a temporary feeling or I'm experiencing some sort of evolution, but last night I started to feel that I despise online multiplayer now and don't wish to play it.

Now I just recently blew $60 on MW 2, $20 on GTA IV, and $50 on whole YEAR of XBL to play online with friends, yet I haven't done that at all lately. Like I said in my other I have just been spending hours enjoying my playtime in Oblivion and occasionally playing The Orange Box. Hell last night I finally played some matches of MW 2. They were alright, but not that much fun, definitely not worth the $60 I wasted on MW2. Oh and some fucktards were being racist and saying "fuck mexicans", and yeah I didn't say anything back but they were basically being racist against me, the cunts.

Online multiplayer was the primary reason I bought the 360 and preferred it over the other platforms, but now I feel that I'm gonna give online multiplayer the middle finger and just enjoy time playing good single-player games like Oblivion.

And since everyone wouldn't stop saying it in my Oblivion thread I might just get a gaming rig later on if I stop playing online multiplayer altogether, but don't count on it.

What does everyone think? Is this just a temporary feeling because I haven't been having fun online lately or is it just me growing out of a gaming "phase"?

There's no point keeping up something you don't enjoy, however you need to decide for yourself whether this is just because of recent bad experiences or because you simply don't enjoy multiplayer.

You don't really explain why you don't like online multiplayer, other than that you occasionally get into a match with some idiots. You might just be the type of person who hates online multiplayer. Or it might be temporary, it's hard to tell without more details.

But if you're not having fun with multiplayer right now, then don't play it. I don't always feel like playing a multiplayer game. Nothing ever said that you had to play online constantly. You probably just need a break from it.

Sometimes it's the company that you get online that sours it for you, do you play with a group of regulars or just random people online? Myself I can't stand playing with people that I don't know, at least to some degree, because I don't know their quirks i.e. if they ragequit, swear more than the average fanboy, talk trash and can't back it up etc.

As it sits enjoy your time in the one player section and come back if you feel like it, I personally swing between the two on a semi-regular basis.

Multiplayer? What is this Multiplayer that you speak of?

It must be some kind of magic spell...

HAVE AT YE! VILE WENCHES!

On Topic: I wouldn't worry too much about Multiplayer. Sure it can be fun, but in my experience if you play with people that take the game too seriously, it just defeats the very purpose of playing a game for fun.
Messing about is good, friendly competition is great, but stalkers, campers, hecklers, and racists, (some people have a good mix of all these personas) are not worth anyone's time and effort.

Besides, Local Multiplayer is the only mutliplayer thats garunteed fun, (so long as no douchebags are involved! XD).

Perhaps you should try some lesser known games, less people playing but more dedicated and friendly.
This is great advice.
The douchebags are all in Halo and Call of Duty.
You know what the nicest guys I ever met were playing? Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

You know how rare it is to find a really nice guy in a CoD4 match, or Halo match? That's how rare it is to find an ass-hat in those games.
Speaking of which: I'll totally play those games. (As the nice guy)

It sounds like you're going through the cycle of games. I normally do that, which is to say play a game then lose interest in it and play another for a while. Don't worry, chances are you'll be back to playing online after a little while. Just play whatever you feel like.

I only play TF2 because I'm good at it. I never quite understood why people play when they get creamed or just don't have fun. Fun is fun, so go with it.

Man as the book of gaming states there is always times when multiplayer is a pain in the ass but in the end after all the noobs and little kids with mics are gone multiplayer is a gift!

I think part of it is the subscription based nature of XBL. It's suffer fromt he same problem as subscription MMOs... that is that since you are paying for it you try to force your self to enjoy what you are paying for, this simply doesn't work. If you get a gaming rig you'll probably find that when you do venture online you enjoy it more because you aren't worried so much about VFM.

All in all do what you enjoy it's as simple as that.

Have you ever thought it might be the people your playing with people on other media I find are usually nicer by internet when compared to 360 but thats what you get when nearly every immature under 12 person has no one(not saing all peopel who one are like that I mean I have one).

I often play offline though some games like monster hunter are much more fun online, but it is optional

I lost interest in multiplayer, purely because nearly everyone on the internet are extremely annoying. Also it's very tricky to win, it's not worth 10 games of frustration to get the momentary glory of a win.

Online multiplayer lost appeal for me a very long time ago. It got far too competitive, if you weren't fighting to win you were considered to not be understanding the point of the game. And if you weren't doing that you were dealing with griefers and 12 year olds cussing like sailors.

Local multiplayer, with friends, still a fantastic experience. Single player, if the campaign is good or the story well told, well worth £40. Online multiplayer? I could care less.

I don't play online multiplayer. The idea of playing with complete strangers who generally act like dickheads just doesn't appeal to me.

Multiplayer has winning attributes.

Those attributes are not on the Xbox.

Free MMOs are my flavor. I get to play when I want, for the length of time that I want. No pressure to get my money's worth, and no regret for failing to do so.

FPS online, RTS online, and sports online are too competitive and brings out the worst of the human psyche, in my opinion.
