I dislike the show i don't find it appealing.

I have a bit of hate towards the fanbase just because wherever i go people bang on about it and try to insert it into everything and generally shove it down my throat.

For example i was in college one day talking about skyrim and how it would be badass to have a mod for sleipner and someone interjected procalaiming that an 8 legged horse would be fucking stupid and then went on to say how they'd rather have applejack as a horse, i asked what that was and he looked at me stonefaced then said "it's from my little pony gnumpty" i simply said to him i did not care for the show to which he proceeded to call me a ignorant and then banged on about mlp for 10 minutes pausing in between every sentence to reassure me how amazing it is and how i was stupid for not liking it.

I really like the show to be honest. When I first heard of it's popularity, I couldn't believe it myself. But then curiosity got the better of me and I watched the first two episodes. At first I thought it was okay, not something I'd watch very much. But then I started watching more episodes, and before I knew it, I was finished with the first season. It is a REALLY good show in my opinion, and defies it's expectations as a show based on a toy line aimed towards little girls.

Of course I can understand why most people wouldn't like it. Personal taste and all that.

The show is decent.
Not for me (since I'm not a child or a parent), but I can see the work that's been put into it.
Like a children's bicycle made of solid gold; I can see that it's of a very high quality, but it's not meant for me.

As for Bronies, they tend to be one of the absolute worst things to come out of the internet in recent years.
Some are okay.
But the ones who shoehorn this show into EVERYTHING, the ones who sexualize this show for kids, the ones who spaz out in public ("BROHOOF, AMIRITE? HEUHEUHEU"); THEY are unbearable.

Neutral towards the show, absolutely hate the fanbase.
So I voted "Not In Favor", to balance it out.

Also, what kind of teacher would assign a paper on MLP?

And if this is YOUR topic...
I beg you to reconsider...
Please, for your benefit and the benefit of those around you...
Don't be THAT GUY...

You know... THAT GUY...
The one adult in the room presenting an in-depth discussion on ponies...

Unless it's a psychology course, then that's a perfect match.

Bronies take what would be an innocent interest in a cartoon and take it way too far. It combines the viral nature of the meme subculture and the persecution complex of the furrys (ironically enough spawned by their insecurities about liking a cartoon they're allegedly so proud of). This, as well as the entitlement issues that come with expecting everyone to appreciate them for liking a cartoon, spawns an obnoxious clusterfuck that is, in my opinion, a cancer eating away at nerd culture and, possibly, the internet. Question this? Ha! Then you're just too brutish and mentally impaired to even compare to the enlightened "ubermensch" that apparently is the brony.

Like cancer, it has spread. You can find it everywhere, even this very site. It's generally frowned upon when someone shoves their religion in peoples' faces, but if it's My Little Fucking Pony it's ok? The answer is no. Say no to hypocrisy. Say no to being wanked in the face by these so called fans. I'm tired of it. Everyone who chooses not to be a part of their infestation is tired of it. We've tried to reason with them, but reason is a thing they simply cannot comprehend. We can't put it anymore simpler than this: fuck off. All of this can only make me hate them, much different from the friendship they care so much about.

TL;DR - Rainbow Dash is a massive spit in the face to the memory and legacy of Ronnie James Dio, now go and read the full post.

This may be weird to say, but people watch the show because it's childish and we get so hardcore about it because when people try to tear down My Little Pony, it's sort of like tearing down a piece if who you were. We watch because it's like it's from a time machine when Cartoon Network ran good shows(Adventure Time is pretty cool though) and when we were young. Some if us like a lil' chunk of nostalgia now and again. It just so happened that said nostalgia came in the form of a land of magical ponies.

I wouldn't have a problem with 'bronies' if they weren't such obnoxious asshats that try to shove their fetish (yes, it's a damn fetish, get over it) down everyone's throats.
That's funny, I didn't realize liking a cartoon was now considered being a fetish.

and no, we're not all shoving it down people's throat, that's an exaggeration.

Mainly because of that.

Now it's not my favorite show of all time mind you, but it's up there.

Seriously OP, if you want to be taken seriously as an adult, don't go down this path. In the real world away from nerd forums like this, most people find the idea that grown men watch cartoons designed for pre-teen girls and maintain a persecution complex about it deeply disturbing.

Out of interest, what are your other classmates writing about?

There are 3 groups out there. There are those who consider themselves "bronies", there are those who seem to consider it their full purpose in life to take out their frustrations on said bronies, and there are those who really don't give a shit. I tend to side with the bronies.

The thing is that the group receives a pretty bad rap because a certain amount of them took it upon themselves to go out there and shove MLP down everyone's throat, and I can understand how you would be annoyed with that, but let me make it clear that those people don't represent the entire group. Mostly, the group keeps to itself, only popping out once in a while to rebut those who insult them. And honestly, who wouldn't?

Now let me make something very clear. A lot of people say that bronies instantly flame anyone and everyone who insults My Little Pony. That's not true. Some people do that, but they're a small minority. No, the thing bronies take offense to is when people make generalizations of the entire community, which is absolutely unacceptable no matter what the community is (except maybe child molesters). Really? You think they're just going to take all this shit lying down? Not likely.

I've argued the bronies' side. Now I guess I have to argue the other side to make it fair. Bronies can get annoying, very fast, and I can see how those who have to deal with bronies constantly shoving MLP in people's faces would become rather bitter.

That doesn't excuse the generalizations, folks. Most bronies that I know are cool people, and I have no problems with them. So stop hating.

As for the bronies, stop posting ponies all over the place. Keep it on Equestria Daily, and maybe YouTube.

Strong disagreement.

At first I didn't care about the show, but god damn they are the paragon of everything that I find disgusting about fan bases. It isn't even to do with the gender demographic or the age demographic, but rather the attitude they have.

Put it like this:

It seems MLP fanboys have this bizarre complex where they think that just because they watch a show that promotes simplistic morals means that they somehow are "enlightened" or "nicer" or even "secure with themselves" just because they like a show. That's complete bullshit, I am sorry, but it is.

That's like saying that just because you watch star trek you are intelligent or just because you play call of duty/battlefield you are a guns expert.

Also they have a tendency to assume anyone who doesn't like the show is some idiot who is ignorant about the show or is in the closet and often treats them like some kid who needs to be explained why they are wrong and it is so irritating especially when they start to ignore you after refuting them or resorting to calling you a troll or just spamming really stupid images.

There is nothing at all special about them no matter how hard they try to believe they are, just another trend in the big list of internet trends and when the next bandwagon comes around it is likely I will be bitching about that bandwagon instead.

In short, I don't care about the show itself and the fans are at times total douchebags.

I agree with you completely. I consider myself a brony, but it's just because the show makes me happy.

The problem here is, the section of the fanbase you're describing gets a lot more attention despite the fact that they're a minority, because they tend to be really loud about the show. And yeah, that's annoying.

Sometimes I incorporate sly references into conversations to detect other bronies, but they're mostly ones non-bronies wouldn't understand, so I don't really consider it shoving the show down others' throats.

It's good to see some people who are actually being mature about this whole thing.
