for all of you who are still in school, this applies to you.

do you put gaming over your homework? I mean is the first thing you do when you get home the project you've been putting off, or a couple rounds of TDM before you get going? Me personally, I work shoulder to the plow all day in school, and before I really start any work at home I get on for a few hours. It's like a smoke break for me. an hour or two of just saying, "Screw it, I'm gonna go play Xbox, I think I deserve that much today."My problem is, sometimes I screw myself over with putting off that project for too long and then I'm up til one trying to half-ass a paper together. so my question is, is it worth it to take a break or should I get off my lazy ass and do the work?

When I was in school, I said fuck homework and spent most of my time either reading stuff I actually wanted to read or playing a game.

I still passed with flying colors and was able to skip grades. Who's laughing now society? That's right, Me!!! I beat the system! I've won! Fuck you board of education, constantly telling me games will lead to nowhere!!

...ahem...excuse me.

I definatly put games over grade, but in school I was able to do alright with minimal effort.

Couldn't do that with A-Levels though (well, the ones that weren't about computers), but hated college and just wanted to earn money, so went and got some jobs instead and partied the money away.

I'll stop typing before I post the last few years of my life.

I actually don't play games that much. Between school and sports/workouts I don't have time

It would be wise of you to put grades over gaming. A lot of kids think they're going to grow up to be testers, level designers, and all that stuff, but are very shocked when they find out there are no positions because everyone else thought the same thing they did. Please, please do not value gaming over getting good grades, or at least make them equally as important. You'll thank yourself later in life.

How about not caring about either :D
Well, if you are apathetic about your schoolwork, you will likely have to answer for that somewhere down the line, and if you don't care about gaming, I don't see why you are on a gaming site. Apathy is quite uncool.

I pretty much ignore grades. Screw 'em, I'm by far and away clever enough to get A's or 1's in all my set exams that matter and I'm much happier playing a game than doing my homework.

I lie to my teachers and skip school simply for the purpose of gaming, but I'm still the highest achieving student in the year. Let the exams come, I pass them with no revision but with a little revision and a little cheating I do very well.

toast.

Seriously in my life my parents /make/ me put grades first, but I always game a disturbing amount. If my gaming is actually making a dent in my grades then that would really suck.

Grades, they are probably one of the stupidest things in the entire world. They don't represent your knowledge whatsoever, but unfortunately colleges care, meaning so do I.

You shouldn't worry about being lazy or if you deserve to play games or not. You probably aren't going to get under 50 in any class unless you really suck at it, so have fun while you still can. I don't know what it's like with you're parents, but you may need to have a fair bit of money when you finish high school. If you're happy, you'll do better at everything. One of my friends goes to a boarding school where he gets all A's and still has time to compete with the South Koreans at Starcraft. He games a LOT. Just be casual about it, don't stress over things.

BUTTERED ... TOAST !!

OT: While many gaming puzzles require logic, you can't get by on logic alone. School is important and now that I'm out I miss it ... kinda

I do my homework, fuck around on starcraft or Kongregate after parents go to bed (Don't have video game priveleges on schoolnights), and get about 5 hours of sleep each night. I'm now immune to sleep loss, get good grades, and have fun. But it's not a good strategy for the weak :p

I always put my studies first, since I always can game in my free time. That's the beauty of finishing your work in class, you actually have free time to play games with.

TDM? Tedium? Sounds like homework.

Nah, homework was generally a cakewalk. Always had time for both. It was kinda odd actually. I'd waste time, blow off assignments, and wind up with a better grade than people who actually bothered to do the work.

While I think grades should come first, I also usually take a couple of hours off from homework after I get home. It usually relaxes me enough so that I can get working hard on my homework after dinner and finish it in half the time I would've.
