I put gaming first through secondary school, and came out with damn good grades. Two A*, six A's and three B's is not to be sniffed at. Puts me in the top ten percent or something, iono for sure. Basically it was handing in coursework JUST on the deadline, and engaging in a bit of light buckling-down during final exam week and last-minute revision. Came out pretty well, all in all. Except it's harder now, with college. Sure, we've just started, but I'm already finding it hard to get on top of my work AND have a decent amount of fun. A2 year is going to be shite. As we speak I have an essay to do for tomorrow. It's 1:45 now, and I'm up in 4 3/4 hours .__.

I have a visualbasic computing system that has to be functional by tomorrow, and I'm still finding friggin divide-by-zero bugs EVERYWHERE in it. I also have biology, but I have a 3/4 hour break before the lesson and it's one sheet of crappy fill-the-gaps, so meh. Biggest problem is the computing. I am shit at memorising code. I have a bag FULL of scraps of paper with scribbled down If statements and Do loops that I cannot function without. Being inventive with combining them has impressed the teacher up till now, but I am going to flunk the exam HARD if I can't memorise it. It's a two-hour on-screen exam. Your program has to be perfect by the end. M'so screwed .________________________________.

When I was in school, I said fuck homework and spent most of my time either reading stuff I actually wanted to read or playing a game.

I still passed with flying colors and was able to skip grades. Who's laughing now society? That's right, Me!!! I beat the system! I've won! Fuck you board of education, constantly telling me games will lead to nowhere!!

...ahem...excuse me.
This...without the choice words.

I played Morrowind right up to the week before my final IB Diploma exams and managed to get a really good score. Then again, when you've been prepping for two years there's no real excuse for screwing up if you know what you're doing. Nowaday, I still find time to play games, but I can't spend as much time on it. When I get into a mood for working, games just distract me. When I start a long game such as an RPG, I know that I'm going to have problems concentrating until I finish at least one playthrough, so I plan accordingly.

Damn you DA:O for taking a lot longer than I expected. That's why it's 2AM and I'm up writing an essay.

I tend to do a few hours of homework then play a game.

Sometime, I make myself a self-contract. I do 2-3 pages and after I can allow myself to play a certain amount of time. Keeps the procastination level a bit low.

I normally do not game during the week (Which is where I do the majority of my web surfing.)

I'm usually swamped with work as it is, so I'm lucky to get to sleep before midnight most nights.
Gaming, if there is any time for it, is few and far between during my weeknights.

I don't play games on the weekdays
because "I didn't do the worksheet because I was blasting aliens" is going to get me kicked out of the classroom

I put grades ahead of gaming 100%, until my dad took my N64 away (for reasons not involving report cards but rather involving petty crime). Then I realized just how much I took it for granted so when it finally got returned to me I never made the mistake of putting grades ahead of gaming again. It's really weird how that all played out, actually. But the end result is quite predictable: I'm nowhere near as educated as I should be and I'm only barely employed. There's a moral to this story somewhere, but I'm too lazy to think about it and I'm afraid of what it might be (i.e. the moral is probably Jack Thompson's wet dream. Have fun getting THAT visual out of your heads!).

Schools more important. I made a promise to my parents that NO video games till homework is completed. (but there's no rule on the computer hehehe)

School > video games

Also if you love video games so much make a goal to work with a gaming company after college. That's my goal (IW here I come......... hopefully)

gaming nearly never got in the way, just depending on the class and stuff, AP classes sucked so i did have to do out of class work and occasional projects for others, otherwise freetime on weekends and saturdays i'd go crazy

that being said i didn't have PERFECT grades, couple A's and the rest B's, but grades are irrelevant to your intelligence as i was clearly smarter than 200 kids ahead of my gpa (I come from a bigass school)

umm.....well i got a trade (when all my friends wanted to have "professions")
and it's been pretty good (just make sure you have a full time job first.)

and now i have no student loans and a kick arse PC

But it's really up to you.

like if you need the grade's to get the job you want then stay in school, if not then drop out and become a productive member of the community. and work at McDonalds.

I can't play right now because I have bad grades. So, yeah. Grades first.
Or you know, you could actually TRY in exams?

Gaming for me. I can get by in school with minimal effort, in high school and I have a 85%+ average so far (that was last progress report, and I know I've gone up)
