This thread is about the state of grammar currently in use on the Internet. Go on, post your thoughts. Using proper grammar. Or else the grammar police will cry themselves to sleep. Please, do it for them.

AHEM.

I think people shortcut their words too much and omit apostraphes.
I know it's a boring topic but hey, we can't all be OH EM GEE BOOM HEADSHOT I PWN YOOOOZZ!!! all the time now can we?

Didn't this thread just happen yesterday? Did you try to search, 'cause I think it did. I think there is a full moon over the escapist tonight or something.

Have you actually been on ED or 4chan? It's like taking a dump in a textbook, than burning it and than trying to decipher it. Need more options like "itz horible"

Yes this is this thread. Interesting isn't it?

As for the topic, Grammar on the Internet is terrible. Most people just don't seem to care about what impression they give to people.

Errr....unless this is your first venture on the internet then you should know that grammar is abysmal.

Edit: I know that my grammar get worse and worse just because I use lol, brb, afk and so on but thank god for spell check so at least my misspelled words are at a minimum.

At least you belong to the glimmering marble white castle stronghold that is the Escapist where the only grammar problems are accidental mistakes and irony.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think texting signals the downfall of proper grammar as we know it.

You know, this actually makes me think of something interesting, when he asks about the grammar of the internet, how many people actually think of the entire internet and not just gaming forums, youtube, and 4-chan, there are possibly hundreds or writing websites and forums out there where perfect grammar and punctuation are a must, now I'm not saying that stupidity and spelling mistakes don't take up more of the internet than the bastions of critical thinking and good grammar, but I'm not going to act like I've seen the entirety of the internet and know whether or not every websites does or does not contain proper grammar and punctuation and neither can you, what I can say is that from all the websites I've been to the grammar is pretty balanced, normally the members who frequent the forums are either using perfect grammar or go the easy way and type like they're in a chat room.

I just have to say, when I saw the title what first popped into my mind was:

Frat boy 1: "Aw dude! Check out the adjectival modification on that word!"
Frat boy 2: "Aw yeah man! I'm getting all the grammar on tape! High Five!"
*High five occurs*

I know this thread is pretty much dead but I searched bar Grammar police and found this. I just wanted somewhere to bring this up:
Like this video? Spread the word! The more popular a video is, the more we publish like it.
It's at the bottom of every video and I just noticed it.

I can generally figure out what's going on, but it's annoying to have to decipher the internet back to English.

Most of the time I can read what people are saying but sometimes it is damn near undecipherable. Still, I make a game of it.

I think exactly the opposite. In my experience, people use apostraphes far too often. This usually happens in words that end with "s". They seem to have a mental rule telling them that a word ending in "s" requires an apostraphe, even if it doesn't. That irritates me.

hay guises, i speel vry gud.

OT: I try and maintain a good grammar postulate. So people can understand what I'm saying. It's hard the other way around though.
