I dunno about you guys but im really tired of "graphic improvements" Graphics take up most of the space on a disk, look at mgs4 a REALLY pretty game but it took 2 cd's and years in the making. AND ON FREAKING BLUE RAY! I dont have a problem with games that are trying to make an art statment but it seems everyone is doing the same thing as their neighbor, its not that i hate games that look good, i liked crysis and mgs and bioshock they all looked GREAT! But it takes SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long. For example crysis 7 hour game mirriors edge 7 hour game bioshock 10 hour game, the games are short. Most of the funding goes into graphics no gameplay inhancements no story, the last good story that i actully enjoyed (And bare with me when i say this) is bioshock, YES im nagging it for having bad graphics a short game but a good story and when was taht 3 years ago, exactly!

After the ps2 i think they shoudlve stopped, the wii looks just fine the 360 and ps3 dont need to get any better, Just stop with the graphics and make some good games! S3riously. Your charging us for a nice picture but with no depth to it, I dont want to pay 60$ for the mona lisa when i can watch it online!

Since graphics are getting better, storylines are getting shittier. There's no depth to them, the characters are all 2D and I feel no emotions when playing.
In my opinion anyway.

Also, wouldn't watching Mona Lisa get a little boring?

If they couldn't sell a game based on its "amazing graphics" then they would have to think of other ways to pull in the customers, which would hopefully mean more in depth gameplay, better story, more gameplay innovation.

Well, I can dream anyway.

Gameplay is alwasy more important than graphics, but they're not mutually exclusive.

Graphics can have a (sometimes) strong impact on gameplay.

Gameplay counts more for me but graphics add a bonus to it. But if I were to choose a game with awesome gameplay but decent graphics I'd choose it over a game with awesome graphics but worse gameplay or decent whatever.

Nope.
Exception of a few games of course, but I haven't played any yet.

MOAR 8 BIT GOODNESS NAOW.

Seriously though. Not every story has to be a big tough guy fighting aliens in a pool of gray and brown colors.

In that case I recommend it - as well as having fantastic graphics the characterization and story development is among the best, if not the best, I have ever seen in a game. Having said that, it IS an JRPG so its altogether a very "Marmite" genre.

I love you.
Graphics are the one of the last things that matter in a game, well, maybe not last, but if its not fun its not fun. I still play old games and people say "Those graphics are so bad" and Im like, its still a great game. Note: Old games have old graphics, but were not always bad. Morrowind now bad by current standards was advanced when it came out.

Fuck it. Let's go back to DOS.
You mean like one of the most complex, most deep, most elaborate and most detailed games EVER made, Dwarven Fortress. It looks like this:

But dámn, it's one MASSIVE game. It simulates so incredibly much, a friend of mine only had a fortress with 100 dwarves and it already used 25-30% of his Q6600 CPU. It's really insanely detailed, it even simulates the moleculair structure of materials you use (an iron hammer really is an iron hammer), well this little post sums it up:
What other game can you see a dwarf go super emo and jump off a cliff, have a carp rip out a babie's left lung, have a mountain collapse on your favorite dwarf, fend off a siege of elephants and goblins, capture a dragon and try to tame it and immediatly regret it, butcher and eat kittens, drop kittins into magma, make your greatest dwarf warrior go insane and wipe out half your population because you killed his kitten, go to war with the elves because you didn't listen to their hippie green peace campiegn, trap all the attacking elves in cages and feed them to your dragon, start a crocodile meat industry, regret starting a crocodile meat industry when a croc eats a mother and her child, get blamed for killing the human caravan when it was really gorillas, go to war with the humans, lose, and then decide your fortress is screwed and promptly flood your mines with water and magma wiping out EVERYTHING.

The answer is no other game...
It's graphics are textual, but hell, gameplay wise, this game is a-ma-zing. And has a learning curve comparable to climbing Mount Everest. But fear not! You can get sprites if you want to:

Too bad I'm too stupid for this game though :-(

graphics may have an impact. Devil May Cry 4 has some of the best graphics, but I had trouble playing the other ones after that because of the lower quality

i find graphics are just a stupid way to lure some into a game just because a character looks real doesn't mean there going to act realistically or be detailed for example in warcraft 3 the charters look like people made of polygons yet the fact that there stories made them seem more life like to me rather then solid snake or Marcus fenix

games like the warcraft series and saints row will always remind use that we should value gameplay more then graphics
