both games are coming out soon for the PC. so which one should i get? state your choice and explain why. If both are crap and you have a different option, say it.

I don't know enough about Guild Wars 2 to be able to recommend it, but I can say that you should wait on the Dark Souls PC port. We know for a fact that it's not going to be a very good port, but we won't know how bad it's going to be until it's out, and we don't know how much they're going to fix post-launch.

not knowing what kind of gameplay or experiences you like.. I'll recommend gw2 since it's the one that'll give u the most value for your money.

it's also the game I'm personally obsessing over so take my advice with a grain of salt :)

I'd also caution you on Dark Souls. Not to drown out anything sensible by saying OH SO HARD DON'T PLAY SCRUB! It is a hard game, but not for the same reason other games are now a days. It's a trail and error dungeon crawler, but that is just the gameplay of the series.

The other issue to look at is that it has been confirmed that the PC port is having issues, and many of the issues of the console version, such as bad framerate and bad lag, are not being fixed in the PC port and in some cases could be worse as FROM has never made a PC game before. Also, it uses Games For Windows Live....so yeah.

While GW2 on the other hand looks fairly interesting, I have my game preordered and fully paid off, but that is more for the benefit of my friend who wants to play. I did play a bit of the beta and it is standard fantasy fare and the MMO gameplay doesn't really change, infact I find it a lot less intuaitive than WoW but it does have some interesting ideas. All classes have something that can heal themselves with so their "shouldn't" be a desginated healer class and they have dynamic events in the questing areas which are things that happen that other players have to assist in for the event to be successful and they are pretty fun too. I had one where a giant centipede burst from the ground and starting attacking all nearby players and it took all of us to kill it.

Ngh, Dark Souls is one of the best games of this generation, but the PC port really might not be all that good.
If you have a console, get Dark Souls on that...but I guess you don't, eh?

The safer bet would be Guild Wars 2, although it'd be a lot more expensive? Hmm.

I voted Dark Souls because I love it so much...but be weary that it might not be as superb on PC as on console.

Gah. I thought they caved under popular pressure and removed the GFWL requirement? If that's the case I shant be getting it even for pennies in a Steam Sale. I went through that nonsense once with Arkham City and once was more than enough.

As for the port itself, yeah. I've heard some dire things. It sounds like they settled for a rushed, sloppy port.

Depends on what you are in the mood for? An MMORPG or a challanging game?

However since Guild Wars had plenty of Beta weekends and stress test, that game is pretty much fine (assuming your spec meet their requirement) while buying Dark Souls straight away is a risk due to not know any recent encounter when playing that game. If you gonna get Dark Souls, wait abit to see the review and complaint/ problem of the PC version.

I already prepurchased GW2 months ago.I'm getting Dark Souls as well so my answer is both.

I've heard the difficulty of Dark Souls may be unkind to some gamers, but as far as I've played in the GW2 Beta weekends, the game is quite accessible.I might be wrong about this, but I didn't find the learning curve too big.

I'd suggest Guild Wars 2 for the moment, Dark Souls has only just been released and is known to have a few teething problems where Guild Wars 2 is pretty polished already.

The community is already releasing fixes for the problems in Dark Souls but if you don't have the cash on hand it'd be worth giving it a few weeks to let them get everything they can sorted out before dropping any money on the game.

My recommendation is that if you want to buy one of them the sooner,go for Guild Wars 2 for now, and you can get Dark Souls later, when presumably an official patch or more fixes by modders have come out.

Dark souls is probably overall a better designed game, but I would wait until you know for sure what the port is going to get you into beforehand.

In regards to Guild Wars 2, if you don't mind MMORPGs, Guild Wars 2 is definitely going to be one of the better ones.

I'm getting both (pre-purchased GW2 and I'm planning on buying Dark Souls soon).

Economically, I'd say get Guild Wars 2 first, assuming you planning on getting both eventually. I'd say the price of Dark Souls is more likely to drop in the future, being on steam and all. I already own both games, but haven't been able to play Guild Wars 2 yet for obvious reasons. I can say that Dark Souls (at least the Xbox 360 version) is a fantastic game but I predict that Guild Wars 2 is going to last the average person longer than Dark Souls will.

Well for more content I'd say Guild Wars 2, but they're very different despite both being RPGs. I mean, one's an MMO while the other just kicks your arse if you're not good enough. Do you mind MMORPGs? If so, then get Dark Souls; if not, Guild Wars 2.

You haven't played Demon's Souls - Guild Wars 2
You have a decent computer - Guild Wars 2
You have access to the internet - Guild Wars 2
You enjoy fun over tedious, frustrating gameplay - Guild Wars 2
You hate fun - Dark Souls

If you played GW1 and enjoyed it then i would suggest Dark Souls. If u are enjoying a long money milking adventure and tedious lvl rash then i would suggest GW2(there are going to be expansions). If you are more of a casual type then i would propose getting grinding on dark souls it might be long but worth it
Of course there is the easiest option involving a HOOKer and some rum

Guild Wars 2. Getting into that game early is a good way to make sure no-one is too far in comparison to you and gives you the chance to find others you can learn the game with.

Dark Souls is a single player game with some online features, your experience wont change much if you hold off on that for a while. The difference is that it might get some mods that will smooth over things the developers missed.

Well do you want a single player dungeon crawler or an MMORPG?
GW2 might be a more sensible purchase at the moment due to content and polish, but no doubt DS will be up to par soon and it is cheaper.
