I was already corrected earlier in this thread, heres my reply if you are lazy to look.

It's not made by NCsoft, it's made by ArenaNet. Like the original GW, which has had quite a respectable level of both success and acclaim. NCsoft is only publishing it, and they're giving ANet pretty much complete freedom over development. They aren't even giving them a deadline.

Also, ANet has repeatedly said that the game will come out "when it's ready." They're going to polish the thing with a toothbrush before they let it out the doors. They've definitely been keeping an eye on the failures of previous MMOs, as evidenced by the fact that they canceled public beta tests planned for 2008 because they realized that most people view betas as demos now.

Well, in that case, lets hope they won't get pressured by NCsoft in any way. It would be great to have something fresh out there which isn't same bag of marbles under a different name.

Personally though, every time I see an MMO tag slapped near a franchise of my interest, I just turn the page. Played too much, too many, to care or have any hopes for the genre to change in any significant way. Saying it here just in case, so peopel dont think I'm a fanboy or a hater

Also, I never said that ArenaNet was responsible for Tabula Rasa.
I messed up some facts about GW, yes, my apologies, but I have an excuse (who doesn't?).
Original GW was pretty boring, and suffered from the same problems as the games developed by NCsoft which I mentioned in my original post, hence why I wrongfully assumed that NCsoft was directly involved, them being a publisher and all.

Just personal experiences and opinions, not insults, forums are here so we can express those, am I correct?

I know there are a lot of die hard WoW fans out there, but WoW (at least in my eyes) is kinda dull. It's' travel to point X kill this many (insert name of enemies here), and you either go raiding for gear to do MORE raiding or grinding(grind is the bane of gaming!). I know there are some out there that will argue against me, but it's just what I believe. I play Guild Wars and I'm excited for Guild Wars 2! I think it has a chance of taking down WoW, if not that than at least being able to have an equal amount of players as WoW. Now, before you decide to crucify Guild Wars 2, PLEASE look at the website(guildwars2.com) and gameinformer.com, it has some serious potential, innovation, and beauty(GOD it's beautiful!). So will GW2 be the fabled WoW killer, will WoW still reign supreme, or will it be a draw between the two games?

I actually really apologize for that post. I was in a bad mood at the time I wrote it, and just in a really ranty state. See, I have a deep-down hatred for WoW. And as I started to explain my position on this topic it got out of hand.

To explain my view in a more civilized manner: I think that Guild Wars 2 is going to be an awesome game, but those who play WoW like WoW for what it is, and most people are attracted to it because no other MMORPG's have the same features (and those that try always fail). Guild Wars 2 is just not going to draw the same audience.

Any game intended to be a WoW-killer is guaranteed to fail, because WoW has already had some 7 or 8 years to perfect its qualities. But if a game doesn't try to compete with WoW for its own audience, then it's guaranteed to get fewer people BUT it's also not doomed to fail either. That is to say, at the end of the day, Guild Wars 2 is going to rock, but it's not going to have as many players as WoW.

perfectly understood. Incidentally I voted for Guild Wars II, because I chose to interpret the pole as asking which would be of better quality. I've only played WoW for about over a year and half, but I quit only a few days ago when it at last became too stale and familiar to bare. I'm bored to death of WoW, and cataclysm has killed its personality. I've been looking forward to Guild Wars II and the next generation of MMOs for a long time.

In terms of popularity, nothing's gonna kill WoW for a long time. In terms of quality, I'd say there are already plenty of other games.

The trouble is that games like that become popular...by being popular. If your friends aren't there, then it's no fun. And everyone plays WoW.

well i know that WoW will stay on top for a long time and that i will never play that dam gme again since every time i started to like that game my account got hacked and banned. going to try guild wars next year since im going away for a few months this year.

It certainly looks quite nicely, even though these are the designers and the company itself advertising it's product, it looks more original than the usual kind of MMORPG. However gameplay is important and I doubt it'll be substantially different from WoW or your basic idea of coping with a boss-fight. It won't be the Nr.1 Combat of all time on my list, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, nor anything near it by a long shot.

I agree that all games are a simple grind when you get down to it but its all about replay value that keeps things fun. WoW has little replay value because you just repeat all the same things over and over (albeit with different class/race combos) and it just gets boring after a bit. and the same goes for GW2
