Poll: Halloween is crap

So, today I realised that Halloween is really crappy now compared to how it was when I was a kid (by which I mean about 10 years ago).
I remember everyone used to answer the door to you and I'd see dozens of other groups of kids going around the houses where I lived.
Back then, the person who didn't answer their door to trick or treaters was the exception and they would usually pay for it with a good egging.
I was taking my little brother trick or treating today (bad excuse, I know) and the streets were virtually empty; also, most of the houses we went to, there was no answer upon knocking (despite all the lights being on).
On top of that, we had one, group of trick or treaters come to our house tonight. One.
Of course, this could just be where I live...
So is it just me or is Halloween not as good as it used to be?

I don't think Halloween is worse than it used to be. I look around and know that everything is exactly the same, I just have a nostalgia tinted view of it. Halloween has always been Halloween.

Depends where you live, I mean when I was younger come hell or high water I was getting my candy; but as I grew older I would (more often then not) view the house up the hell and go "yeah fuck that shit" I dont think theres as much effort as maybe in the past.

All halloween is is corporate cash-cow. Feeding the big businesses money is all you are doing, and celebrating pagan gods/deities. Can't see any good in it personally, and I don't really celebrate it myself.

Though I do love some of the tight skimpy clothing that I will be seeing the ladies wear later tonight!

I'm living in a college town for school. Halloween essentially boils down to everyone dressing up in costumes and partying all weekend. I feel that best represents my spirit of halloween (i grew up overseas and never did the whole trick-or-treat deal). =]
