I'm actually thinking the same thing. Right now all that's happen in my house. Is well, nothing there's some sweets set out in the kitchen table but no fireworks or even a bonfire.

I can't believe you guys are think that America's greatest holiday, National Dress Like a Slut Day has gone down. If anything, the ante has been upped over the last few years.

It really has nothing to do with candy once you're older than 15 or so.

Well this year I'm sick, so I can't even if I wanted. Besides, I can just steal candy from my siblings.

Yes, I am very cruel.

So is it just me or is Halloween not as good as it used to be?
It's you. You've got to put effort in to make it just as scary...

Adapt to the challenge ;)
It's starting to seem like quite a challenge after just turning on the TV to see Most Haunted :O

Things can't change that dramatically everywhere in only 10 years. Sorry there man, but it looks like you've just got a bad area at the moment.

Same over here, but I've been here for a few years now and all the adults are old now and don't celebrate because their kids have left.
Damnit I need to move.

I stopped caring about getting candy when I turned 13. But it was fun to walk around town, seeing people from school in costumes, and being all like "Oh, hey (name)! How's it going?" Once I even ended up being part of a group that was making some halloween movie. It was completely nonsensical, but that was all part of the fun. Things like that generally don't happen on any other day.

All halloween is is corporate cash-cow. Feeding the big businesses money is all you are doing, and celebrating pagan gods/deities. Can't see any good in it personally, and I don't really celebrate it myself.

Though I do love some of the tight skimpy clothing that I will be seeing the ladies wear later tonight!
How am I feeding big businesses money? I make my costume every year...

Halloween is awesome. It's the only day of the year where you get to dress up like ANYTHING you want and have a blast. It's like theater class for the entire world.

Pffff, be happy you've got Halloween in the first place! I'd LOVE to go to a costumed party (especially with fellow nerds), but there isn't a single shred of Halloween here in The Netherlands.

Translation into nerd language: It's the only day of the year when cosplay is socially acceptable. To all haters of cosplay but celebrators of Halloween, you know it's true!

Never celebrated Halloween here..
Here it`s called Day of the Dead, and we go at the graves of out beloved dead, pray for their souls and light candels to light their way in the other world.
No trick or theat, parties etc.
I like it more this way.

So, today I realized that Halloween is really crappy now compared to how it was when I was a kid
It just seems crappy because everything just seems awesome when you are a kid

Oh and the fact that you are trick or treating so early could also be a contributing factor to your disappointment

Well, I used to live in a cul de sac where trick-or-treaters never wandered. But this year we're on a regular street right around the corner from a preschool so I am expecting lots of kwoot little trick-or-treaters. And if I don't, I'll be sorely disappointed. It's kind of like how when I was little, we'd get at least three knocks on the door for a group of Christmas carolers but now they're no where.

Never celebrated Halloween and I don't really care for it, I just lock the door and shut the lights.

Sadly iv never been able to go ToTing with halloween being the devil and all...
But i get what your saying, i would drive by different neighboorhood's and see TONS of kids and teen going door to door, the past few years i havent seen but a hand full of ToTrs.
But, there are tons of " Fall Fesevals" being thrown by a lot of the church's in my area.
Free food, candy, costume contests mabey thats where all the people are going.

Got to say, I agree with MA7743W. The neighborhood both back where I grew up and where I live now had changed from being open and inviting on Halloween to being very closed and almost threatening. The worst part is, I saw those changes about 8 years ago. Things have only gotten more closed since.

My Halloween day.

"Trick Or Treat!"

1 minute later

"Trick Or Treat!"

2 Minutes Later

"Trick or Treat!"

5 Minutes later

"Trick Or Treat!"

Halloween hasn't changed in NZ so no, it hasn't gone worse.
