does anyone other then me thoroughly hate Halo 3? or have their hopes crushed?
i started playing it, and i was enjoying it...but the fact that the AI is the dumbest ive seen EVER...you NEED to connect to xbox live to unlock gear...level difficulty is extreme...
there are 4 difficulties... easy-normal-heroic-legendary. on easy you dont even have to fire a shot half the time-just run up and beat them but on heroic if you think bout beating down a brute you get laughed at- that and as the enemies get smarter, your allies get dumber. i can go on and on with complaints but Yahtzee already did that

anyways, what do you think?

I think there has been to many of these "I HATE HALO 3!!11!" posts on just about every gaming website there is.

I mean just drop it. We have enough hate in the world as it is.

I've come to the theory that aside from the people who hate Halo just because it is not their thing (i.e people I respect) there are a few specific kinds of haters:
1. The fanboys of another console hating it because it's the big game on 360
2. The people who take Yahtzee's every word as truth
3. The pretentious fuckheads who hate it because it is popular and they want to convince themselves they are special
4. The hypocritical and annoying Valve fanboys
5. The ones who hate for the sake of hating.
6. The people who keep consistantly making threads like this one despite people telling them to stop with them.

The list is a representation of all that is wrong with a gaming community, to date as a trilogy Halo has a good story, great music, great fun mutliplayer, great new features come Halo 3 and overall a good solid trilogy in gaming. People who say it has a bland story are really just seeing what they want to see and as for gameplay and features I agree with Game Trailers:
"Only the people who WANTED to be dissapointed could honestly say they hated it."

So therefore only the narrow minded ignorant fuckskulls who don't even pay any attention to the story yet say it's shit, play it for about five minutes and say the gameplay is average then go and make I HATE HALO 3 I'M SO SPECIAL threads insulting the fanboys and then start paradoxingly fanboying Half Life 2 are the real idiots who are seeing what they want to see to embrace ignorance and now with this thread they are secondary to Creationists and Hummer Drivers in terms of people I hate and would like to grind into a wood chipper.

Please note, as always to differ myself from a fanboy, if you don't like Halo just because it's not your thing that's fine... otherwise if you fit any of the descriptions above please good sir allow me to say:

These days, Singleplayer on a FPS is just a token gesture made by developers, you shouldn't take it as a view of the game itself. It's all on the online play, sadly. Only recent exception I can think of is Call of Duty 4, which had a pretty cool campaign. But that's about it.

Yahtzee will never put me off a game. I love Halo 3.

What do you mean "does anybody else hate it"? Nobody on this site ever shuts up about how much they hate it. Why on earth do we need another post on it?

Of course it's going to be ridiculously easy on the 'Easy' level, it's in the fucking name. The purpose is for those who are not good at games to be able to enjoy themselves.

So it should be just as obvious that in "Heroic" and "Legendary" the enemies will get tougher and you will have to use stronger weapons to stop them? What the hell else do you expect?

Yahtzee's complaints of the game were meant for humour, not to be taken literally, he complains that the graphics are too bright and shiny then bitches about how Gears of War and Killzone are dull greys and browns, he is doing it for the laughs, not to be taken word-for-word.

Now all that's out the way I'll answer the damn question.

Halo 3 was a well made game that was nicely polished and suffered from few bugs and issues. Besides that the storyline was pathetic and completely let down the series and the multiplayer was tweaked too much from Halo 1 and 2 to be of much enjoyment to me after the first few weeks of excitement.

Overall? A good game, but it went in directions I didn't like so I sold it after a few months when I was completely bored of it.

I agreed with all of your post apart from this bit.

I really liked the Halo 1 campaign. I like the armies and the whole concept, but to me Halo 2's story was bad and Halo 3's was godawful.

Overall Halo has a great story (based on the background etc), but the campaigns for the 2nd and 3rd were disappointments to me despite the fact I hoped otherwise.

All of your points are wrong.

You DON'T need to connect to xbox-live to unlock armour, you CAN kill brutes on legendary using melee, your allies DON'T get dumber on different difficulties.

I guess the rest are opinion, but the marine ai isn't that bad and compared to other games, legendary is still pretty easy without skulls enabled.

I also guess you are pretty deluded, but at least that is better than trolling which I assume you are not doing. Otherwise, you may want to scroll up and take another look at the picture posted by Vrex

yes...you do need xbox live to collect some of the armour...the steppin razor achievement for example can only be done online and once gotten it gives you elite armour. and i wouldnt say my points are wrong-they're opinionated.

in my opinion, the AI gets dumber- in the mission "The Storm", i stood at the very edge of the pier-bridge- whatever- with a missil pod, ready to take out the last wraith, right as i fire(remember im standing on the edge) a marine decides to jump in the way-he gets hit-his buddies get hit with splash damage and then when they thought i was a 'bad guy' they kill me and then you hear some dumbass npc scream "OH MY GOD-SOMEONES KILLED THE CHIEF?!"

....

oh, and theres the riding in the gunner position of a warthog, being driven between 2 rocks and getting STUCK whilst grunts throw grenades at us.
the shooting the corpses of dead grunts whilst brutes rip them to pieces
i drive the mongoose, he has a rocket, he fires the rocket infront of the mongoose killing us both.
i ride in the mongoose with a rocket launcher, he drives, he drives us INTO a chopper or into an angle where the only thing i can shoot are rats...

and i genuinely thought Halo 3 was gonna be freakin awesome so dont judge me

I had a small debate with myself about whether or not I was going to answer this post. On one hand, it is obvious that you like halo 3 and just like complaining about stuff, but on the the other hand, I like arguing so you can see which side won out.

You said you need to connect to xbox live to unlock gear, well you don't. You only need to connect to unlock some of the gear. Which is only useful for showing off online anyway. What's more, just because you have one example of NPC's doing something stupid, doesn't mean they get stupider as difficulty increases. I would say that's opinion as much as it's an insane mans opinion that everyone was made to serve him.

I hate Halo in general, and Halo 3 in particular, for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is hypocrisy on behalf of every reviewer bar Yahtzee.

I'm sorry, but when game reviewers can happily spend endless paragraphs slagging off Killzone 2, yet they couldn't find a bad word to say against Halo 3, I call bullshit. Those of us who wanted an honest review of the fucking game couldn't find one under the fanwank, and as much as I love Yahtzee I know better than to assume he's trying to give serious purchasing advice.

Everything I have seen of Halo 3 (and I've seen a lot) leaves me feeling hollow. It's horribly mundane. There is not one feature I can find that another game, often a younger game, does not do better. I honestly see no reason to buy this game beyond either A) being an absolute die-hard of the series who cannot bring himself to accept that, like Sonic and Tomb Raider before it, Halo has become absolute shit and is no longer worthy of its fans, or B) Fanboys.

I can do a degree understand the A group, because I myself have... *sigh* ...bought the new Tomb Raider game. I really don't want to hear the bullshit opinions of Group B, especially when they're supposed to be Reviewers.

Oh, and let's not have any "OMFG Wargamer i bet u dont even own Halo 3!", because my reply will just be NO SHIT SHERLOCK! Considering I CLEARLY hate the fucking thing, why would I buy it!?
