I have no doubt that before the year is out, we will see a fully functional RTS on a console. It will be called Stormrise, cause its not falling into the trap all other RTSes on consoles have - trying to replicate the PC RTS experience using a console.
Can't have it both ways, kiddo. HW is being built by Ensemble from the ground-up as a console title and isn't trying to replicate the PC RTS experience either.

It may very well be that Halo Wars fails in its experiment; I have no crystal ball and have no direct experience with the game myself. However it's incredibly premature to dismiss it before it even reaches market, while touting an unknown title sight-unseen.

I totally agree, the market for a Halo RTS just isn't there.
Whenever I say that, people call me a fanboy.
Why? Unless you are following the stereotype that Halo players only like FPSs and are to ignorant to be able to enjoy anything other than FPSs. Or RTS fans all hate Halo so much that even if it has the best controls ever seen they won't touch it I fail to see why the market isn't there.

I think a lot of hardcore Halo fans will get it because it's going back to Halos roots. Normally, I would agree that RTS games have never really worked on any console, but when you take into consideration that the game is designed engine-up for the console, including the controls, it gives me a feeling of hope that this won't be a total let down. Anyways, that;s my two cents.

RTS's are better on PC. For Example. Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2 was for console and PC. Console play was ok, but had some control issues like looking around, and was a bit better on the PC. (to be fair, neither one let you zoom out as much as I would have liked)

However, the developer of Halo Wars is making it from the ground up for consoles, so I'm going to give it a try.

I think its going to only be average the console doesnt really Support RTS that well unless they design like a whole new GOOD system for it, but halo wars looks remotely fun but the only problem is I dont like the idea of a halo RTS it just seems like its no longer going to be halo their going to slowly and painfully kill the halo franchise you can see it coming and dont deny it.

I love RTS games, I like Ensemble; however, it isn't going to work with a Halo IP or console in my opinion.

Console RTS games are much more... Awkward... Than PC RTS games.
If it is 360 exclusive, I'm not getting it. If it's also available on PC, then probably yes.

My first RTS was C&C on the sega saturn, and I enjoyed it a lot. So it isn't impossible for an RTS to work on a console, but you can do a lot more with a PC version, simply because of the control limitations of a console controller. Someday I may buy a 360, and chances are by that time Halo Wars will have come out and gone through a price drop, so I may get it then. I'll also agree that a lot of it sounds gimicky, and that usually doesn't do well past the initial "hey, that's sorta cool" bit for me.
