No I don't care about the awards. I didn't even know that his movies won any until I checked. I'm only mentioning it since the OP mentioned. Don't automatically think I believe in that crap just because I bring it up. I brought it up to semi-counter one of the OP's comments as it was misinformed. Next time think twice before making an assumption... most of the time it will be wrong.
The guy has never got any Academy Awards [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award], AKA, Oscars. So I was entirely right.
He has been nominated. And he has won other awards. So while you are right I wished to direct your attention to other awards. But yes.. this case you did win.... but next time.... next time... MWAHAHAHAHA. *starts twiddling black mustache and doing that thing with the fingers that Mr. Burns does*

Oh jeeze. Please don't tell me he was nominated... I can't bear to hear that.

What, is there a 'most obnoxious product placement' award now? "Presenting this years award for best explosions is Arnie!"

The man must be stopped.

The Rock was a good movie, the first Bad Boys was a good movie

The thing is those movies were made up to over a decade ago, and Bay hasn't done anything new since then except add more product placement where it isn't appropriate (who the hell was buying an XBox in that secret clone facility in The Island?)

Also Transformers sucked.

Did you not read my first post... at all? He shouldn't be stopped for the reason that people like him. His movies are enjoyable to people (including me) this means he will keep making movies. I'm just curious... why are you regurgitating hate on him? Can you not just ignore him and let us enjoy our action flicks?

I don't really mind Michael Bay as long as he sticks to mindless action movies. Though I did love Transformers. Easily the best movie I saw that summer. And I work at a movie theater and get all my tickets free. I see a LOT of movies.

I have nothing against blowing things up. Blowing things up is a very fun thing, when done in moderation. But there is a time and a place dear boy. Films are about telling a story.

Not all films are about delivering a story... some, such as Michael Bay films, are actually documentaries on Hollywood special effects.

It's forum comment about putting piles of DVDs in a ditch and blowing them up dude don't take it too seriously.

I don't understand HOW he could have screwed up Transformers...

All he had to do was have Giant Robots Fighting and blowing stuff up...

Instead we get 30 minutes of that and 2 hours of useless side characters that aren't the transformers. They were bit players in their own movie... who does that?
That was ironically one film were more special effects and more explosions were warranted. So he goes and makes a teenage love story.

Ohh Michael Michael Michael...

I think he secretly hates us all.

I enjoyed Transformers a lot, actually. Can't say the same about Bad Boys or Pearl Harbor though. Those were pretty bad...

I don't think he's nearly as bad as Uwe Boll. I didn't think Bad Boys or Pearl Harbor were great, but they weren't arduous to sit through, unlike the Boll flicks I've seen thus far (House of the Dead, Bloodrayne, In the Name of the King).

his movies don't make a big point but they are fun to watch (for me atleast) and whats so bad about stuff blowing up ?? who doesn't like seen big things go boom ??
I have nothing against blowing things up. Blowing things up is a very fun thing, when done in moderation. But there is a time and a place dear boy. Films are about telling a story. Or about engaging the imagination. It is perfectly possible to do that without blowing EVERYTHING up. It is often better to do that without blowing everything up, as things blowing up leave less time for actual action (Terminator was action packed without over-doing explosions and was better for it), or characterization, or any of the other fundamental aspects of film-making that don't involve blowing stuff up.

In fact, when you disassemble his films they don't actually have much story to them. They are just one explosion after another, endlessly repeated until the ending credits.
i thought transformers had alot of story but i still do i agree with you on the point you made

The only good Michael Bay movies were The Rock and Transformers. The only thing that saved The Rock was Sir Connery. In Transformers, there are bits where you can actually feel the rolled-up newspaper of Spielberg from on high, vetoing some of the sillier Bay ideas. Why he let that whole l33t h4x0rz subplot remain in is beyond me, though.

The rest of his movies were utter garbage. Painful, mindless garbage at that.

I am going to admit that I really like his films. I loved: Pearl Harbor, Transformers, Bad Boys and Armageddon. I want to see Transformers 2 and The Island. I think the explosions are really cool and his use of special effects is well done. I especially love the fights in Transformers... I mean giant robots fighting?!?!?! Well I know it sounds nerdy but I think this movie is awesome. Furthermore Bad Boys I extremely enjoyed however I haven't watched it recently so I can't exactly remember why...probably the action again. I liked Armageddon because I thought the idea behind it is pretty cool...and because an Asteroid Deflection Team is in face real.

Also about Awards....

Armageddon: Saturn Awards for Best Direction and Best Science Fiction Film, Nominated for four Academy Awards (Best Sound, Best Special Effects, Best Effects Editing, and Best Original Song)

Transformers: 2008 MTV Music Awards - Best Film, Nominated for three Academy Awards, in the fields of Achievement in Sound Editing, Achievement in Sound Mixing, and Achievement in Visual Effects, 2007 Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival - Jury Merit Award For Best Special Effects

Bay is a great example of distraction film making.

His 'Look at the pretty CGI and explosions over here so you don't notice the plot and characters are shit* philosophy can fuck right off.

Proof that throwing nothing but cash at a film doesn't make it good........even though a lot of you seem to turn around and make the excuse of justify your actions by saying you 'watch them to see how bad then are".

Sigh
