I often wonder if I saw a different transformers movie to every one else. The one saw had a bunch of unlikeable charecters in overblown situations not needed in the film (why were the marines in it past the opening?(America Fuck yeah) and since when can american soldiers analyse alien machine code?) it was a boring movie with 20 minutes of giant stompy robots (it should have been 90 minutes of awesome stompy robots with 5 minutes of story). also why the fuck were the computer geeks in it at all. it was a great 90 minute movie that went for almost 3 hours with way too many charecters and a pointless story.

Bad boys 2 sucked also, if it was an hour shorter it would have been ok. Why did they need to go to columbia to rip off a scene from police story?

He takes himself way too seriously which is the problem. action movies should be a fun 90-120 minute explosion fest but bay makes 3 hour long story free shit movies that keep making money somehow.

I saw the same movie you did. I don't see why people liked that movie. It was extremely predictable, unrelentingly stupid and very dull, to boot. The only time the movie was okay was when Optimus was around and other people were shutting up, but that was maybe a tiny portion of the movie.

It felt like the movie was actually trying to be 4 crappy movies instead of one.

1. Crap drama where nerd gets the hot chick and makes out with her in a transforming robot.
2. Crap action movie where things explode for no good reason and a Deus Ex Machina thingy features prominently.
3. Crap horror movie in which a nerd and hot chick run from an enemy that is equal parts Predator and Jar Jar Binks.
4. Crap military movie where people bomb things because they can, and l33t Australian hackers run around messing things up/fixing things.

Transformers, for me, was an absolutely bizarre film. It started really well with the military base attack and everything. Then the middle bit turned to the worst pile of shit I have ever seen. Then it picked up again near the end where (finally) the transformers started fighting.

I know I have moaned about all his explosions but the middle part of transformers needed some more. A scene involving a teenage kid trying to hide giant alien robots from his parents while simultaniously trying to hide his pornos from his girlfriend was not good film making.

Giant robots blow stuff up and get into cool fights. That is one thing Michael Bay should have been able to do. I hope the sequel is better.

Time for some thread necromancy here.

This poll and this discussion was made before the release of the now legendarily poor film known as "Transformers 2", which was made by the aforementioned toss-pot of a director known as Michael Bay. Also, we have had many new joiners since this sank. I am curious to know if anyone has changed their mind on the quality of the films this.... individual... churns out, and curious to know if anyone actually enjoyed Transformers 2.

There OK but he takes a Simpsons approach to how explosive everything is like I wouldn't be surprised if someone threw and apple an it blew up

There not bad.

He's got his own style so no need for hate on something that is what it is.

I enjoy his movies regardless if another director could have told a better story.
