Sure haven't. Probably not going to, either. At least, not until I have to preorder gaems from a used bin.

No, I'm going to wait for the price to go down before I buy it.
um good luck. the original cod 4 still sells for 50 dollars. and why wont you buy it? its going to be a very very good game unlike world at war(which was done by treyarch who likes to ruin the series every other year for stock purposes). i dont know why any fps fan wouldnt pick it up really. and by some of the responses im getting its starting to make me wonder if any of you have even gotten to max level >.> let alone tried different game modes besides the uber mindless team deathmatch. and what is so bad about the modern warfare fanbase...? why the hate people? i really would like a genuine reason ive only seen one that made sense so far...

No because I boycott any game that causes a $40 rise for all new games for the sake of greed.

No I haven't, I hardly ever pre-order something unless I am really excited about it, and have faith that it'll be good(Mass Effect 2). Modern Warfare 2 is on my possible rental list.

For that price? No, they can keep their over priced piece of plastic. I've got other games to beat. Maybe they'll learn from valve that putting things on sale actually sells better than jacking prices up like crazy is stupid.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAAAAIT what in lords name are you people ragging on price for? http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74786 normal price of most games and will most likely drop to 50 dollars. and since when did games sell for 10 dollars brand new?T.T seems more like your avoiding it because your cheap. because that is the normal price of the majority of games. 50-60 is the norm of a brand new game... and if your talking of the prestige edition? whos buying that anyways really? your not forced to buy that version T.T.

Well I was undecided about whether I wanted to shove a rabid wolverine into my ear or put down money on Modern Warfare 2. When I looked into the two options I realized that of the two options the former was far more likely to be worth the investment than the latter.

But who knows, when its in the bargain bin I'm sure I'll get it, if the wolverine doesn't kill me.

What? Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 2? Lulz.

I wouldn't get the game even if it was free. People keep bashing Halo for it's fanbase, but fuck me, the Call of Duty, especially Modern Warfare fanbase is by FAR worse.

I also don't really see what's so good about the games, I always found games like Battlefield to be far better FPS.
I only bash Halo because its a poor answer to the need for Perfect Dark to be ported to a new console (Perfect Dark Zero doesn't count since that was a travesty that took out everything that was good about PD). Basically the only thing that Halo did better than Perfect Dark that I noticed was having vehicles and being on a better console :p. But that's my personal feelings on that, I'm sure we each have our different tastes.

Activision decided to hike up the price just because.

Anyway, no. The first Modern Warfare was terrible, generic, and not even mildly entertaining. The campaign was average at best, and the multiplayer that was held in such high regard is a horrible grind-fest. I refuse to pay for more of the same.

It's 90 dollars in the UK last I knew.

90-40 = 50 not 10.

I wouldn't really look at game sales as an accurate representation of the quality of a game. That is until you can return a game for a full refund if it is shitty.

The big push for pre-orders now is to help alleviate the negative impact on sales that reviewers and the internet have because people spread the word of how shitty games are.

Now Modern Warfare wasn't "shitty" persay, but there is little to no correlation between game sales and the quality of the game. At least no real strong one. You could find quite a few between marketing and game sales though.

Most of the worlds most popular movements have been pretty vile and cost the lives of millions of people, they didn't sell on quality, they sold on marketing.

Read this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.126628] and find out. It's all there. Activision's evil plot for the sake of greed and greed alone raising the game in the UK from 30 Pounds (that's $50 - $60 American Dollars) to 55 Pounds ($90 - $100 American Dollars) and if it sells at expected rates than it'll stay at the new price hike.
