I thought that since Turbine is asking their community to vote, why don't we try to make other people to vote for VALVe?

I will gladly help to make VALVe win, since I haven't played any of Turbine's games and I love VALVe's.

Will you help?

I tried to go on steam forums and do so.. but somehow I'm not longer allowed to post.. which is odd considering I posted once before this. Also turns out I was beaten to it.

March Mayhem obviously means nothing to Valve. Otherwise, Valve would have at least notified Steam about March Mayhem, and the vote would go 10,000 to 3000 in Valve's favor. Conversely, we might have seen a mighty influx of idiots as a result.

I don't know. Even if we do gather the people on the Steam forums it can't compete with a an advertisement in a games launcher.

Yeah, they don't benefit from victory in MM like Turbine does.

This whole March Mayhem thing is bullshit. It would be fine if it was an actual representation of the Escapist's views, but the influx of Turbine fans just to help Turbine completely corrupts it. It makes it pointless and frustratingly futile to support anyone besides Turbine. So I'm not worrying about it.

Well, Turbine's going to win again; there's nothing we can do about it. It's just a contest anyways.

Valve is overrated in my opinion. Their going the Square Enix route and only making one type of game. Besides they dont need help, their fan base is huge on The Escapist.

But the people that answered Turbine's call appears to be bigger in number.

Why would they?

Well, according to the rules, it's okay to call for help. So they aren't doing anything wrong.

I've said it before and I will say it again:

You do realize that Turbine can make all the appeals they want to try to "call in reinforcements," as if we are some sort of mindless drone-being, they could even put a recuring message in the global system that says "VOTE FOR TURBINE," (which they haven't) but it wouldn't matter a lick if we didn't like them. The fact is that we are here to support our developer because we like them. Some of us, me included, have taken the chance to enjoy a new community. If you look at some of the new posters from Turbine, you will see that we are assimilating with the Escapist crowd. Luckily, I've taken a look around the rest of the forums and found them pretty welcoming. But I pity the new poster who comes here looking to enjoy a competition only to find a bunch of self-important veterans who act like old men remeniscing about times before all these newfangled youngin's came 'round.

I shall now sit back wait for a mod to close this thread.

It should rise or fall based on it's own merits. Nuts to you, OP!
In any other situation I'd agree with you Undeed, but the contest already isn't "rising and falling" by it's own merits anyway. The data in what is essentially meant to be a "community census" is already horribly skewed by the vast influx of users registering and voting on behalf of Turbine. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm not saying it's right. I'm not even going to judge if it's fair, it simply is. At this point trying to rally votes for Valve would be employing the same tactic Turbine is already using, and I can't fault someone for wanting to level what they perceive is an uneven playing field.

Anyway OP, if you really want Valve to take some manner of action my suggestion to you is to e-mail the man in charge himself, Mr. Gabe Newell. At the very least you can explain to him the contest here on The Escapist and make the suggestion and wait to see what happens. Beyond that I'm not promising anything.

Good luck,

To be honest, i think VALVe will only need help when they butt heads with Nintendo in the finals; assuming they don't get matched in the semi-finals, anyways.
