I think it was deeply routed in me at a very younge age not to trade my games into a store.
I remember being 13 or so and taking in about 20 games to trade into a EB games. They rang them in and they offered me 25 bucks for the lot. I was just shocked these were two year old games, good games, okay some 6/10's but not shitty games and that was it, A Big chunk of my collection for 25 bucks!!?
Even if I only pick up the games and play them for 2 hours randomly in life I get more entertainment than, what a buck a game?, this was when the games were heading back up to 69.99.
All I could do was look the clerk in the eye and say..

I don't because one day I may want to go back to that game, and I have done that several times. Friends I know have sold games and regretted it because they wanted to then play said game at a later date. Plus you get crap money for it. I may as well keep them anyway.
I do it sometimes when I am strapped for cash. I always regret it.

I am certainly happy to know that so many other people hoard all their games! I've grown quite a collection since the Super Nintendo days, which only added to my Dad's Atari library. 3 guys being gamers has lead to quite an obnoxious collection over 13 different systems. I'm going to be leaving the house soon to "officially" start out on my own, though, so that collection is going to take a major hit once I find a job and move out...
Now to see if the old SNES still works. I have a hankering for some Super Mario RPG.

I used to be a trader, but with so many great that have come out I've become a little of both. I keep my favorite games and get rid of the others
It really depends on the game. For a while, I used to trade in some of my less played and more completed PS3 games simply because I didn't have enough harddrive space to maintain them along with newer, more interesting titles. Now that I've gotten a significant upgrade (500 versus 30), I don't need to fuss over that anymore. Nowadays, I only really trade in games that I know I don't enjoy.
I keep the games I like and have enjoyed a lot and trade in games I'll never look at again. Works out pretty well for me. I get rid of the trash and get to keep the cream of the crop. My collection still slowly grows and when I look back I won't have to sift through garbage for good games as i have to with my ps2 collection.
Nope, you never know when you'll want to play your games again!

I'm a collector, no game shall ever be traded in regardless of suck degree (it may be worth showing to somebody some day, just so they can see how much a game really did suck).
I'm a collector. The majority of my games are older titles that I love and that I stay play and could potentially go for a fair amount of money if I ever did decide to sell them. As well, I don't buy so many games lately since very few new games have intrigued me enough to want to play them. The most recent game I picked up was Final Fantasy XIII because I thought the graphics were pretty and a couple of my friends recommended it to me.
As it stands, the only games I'm currently eyeing are for the last generation of consoles. Most of them for the PS2.

I used to trade in when ever. That was when I was young and stupid, now I only trade in if I need cash. So I have a boat load of games and no plans on trading them in. Last time I traded them in to fix my xbox.
I'm generally a collector, I will ONLY trade in games if they're atrocious....and EB Games has a trade in bonus going on.
For example: I have games like Damnation and Lost Planet 2 in my collection, both considered evil, terrible games, I keep them. I have games I barely play, some of which I haven't played yet.
BUT recently I went to EB Games with 5 PS3 games, because they had +50% credit towards pre-orders.
The games and the reasons were:
Atelier Rorona and Cross Edge (I tried SO HARD to love these games, they had a good pedigree and systems and everything...but I couldn't deal with the combat)
Dark Void (I finished it, and I saw no replayability in it, which was an enjoyable experience, but I couldn't play it again)
Haze (Same as Dark Void really, and the ending really disappointed me because they could have changed it slightly and it would have been amazing)
Transformers: War for Cybertron (I enjoyed it, I just didn't need it anymore, I don't play online, the controls were unweildy at times, and just...ehhh)
Got $116 from it, and with the $40 I got from cancelling my Skyrim preorder *raises flame shield* I paid off Ico Collection, Disgaea 4, and a good chunk of Assault Horizon.

I go both ways; I'll frequently sell through eBay current gen games pretty regularly only to buy them back later. However, When it comes to anything else before this generation I hoard and collect,For example if I was to sell my mint Parasite Eve 2 I run would into extreme difficultly trying to find another copy.
P.S For everyone complaining about gamestop trade-in prices, Try at the bare minimum Craigslist. Gamestop may only give you 25$ for Dead Island but I bet right now someone would be happy to pay 50$ instead of 60$ plus tax.
