I am a brit... Hocky is played on grass and astroturf and played mostly by bloodthirsty girls... Seriously all those 'Give Blood, Play Hockey' hoodies scare me!

Also, I don't think they have teams in UK hockey. They have small tribes who's only goal is to murder and drink the blood of other tribes, and then murder and drink the blood of the people around them...

(For context... one of my exes was a (feild) hockey player, and she was aslo a fucking psycho...!! Good fun usualy though!)

Yeah. My and a friend are reasonably big fans of hockey. Unfortunately being in Scotland, the teams are shit in comparison to, well, probably everywhere. We have another friend that plays what we call "skirt hockey" (field hockey). If I had to pick an NHL team to support it would be the New Jersey Devils. Big fan of Brodeur.

Aww ya. I don't watch hockey much. But I always watch the Stanley Cup game and support the Leafs. Lets go Toronto!

Well. The fanbase in Winnipeg, anyway.
That's interesting, you see, I really started getting in to hockey more when an NHL team moved here this year. I say more because I played when I was younger. Also we fill up the seats.

we're few and far between on this site, or at least in an effort to vocalize ourselves.

Anyway, to answer your question, I am. My top three teams to root for are (in order):

The Penguins
The Predators
The Ducks (cannot support them after the organization decided to hire barbeque stains Bruce to coach and destroy that team like he did the caps) Stars

Ive been there for the pens since '96, but been watching since I was 3 in '95.

I also play, primarily a center position though i tell people Im a left wing (despite shooting right handed. I know, my backhand is rather good, thats ne of the reasons I decided to start ont he left).

Only watched one hockey match. It seemed alright I guess. I want to move to Toronto after uni so I guess I support the Maple Leafs

I got more into hockey recently

I was never really a sports guy but my brother (Rangers fan) really started getting into it and it just kind of pulled me along. I didn't really want to be a fan of the same team as my brother because, well thats just how being a brother goes, but I didn't really want a team in the East that would be in direct playoff competition with New York (my state). (and I can't take the disappointment that comes with being an Islanders fan like my father)

I ended up with the Coyotes, I'm not really sure how, it just kind of happened.

I'm a UK based Philadelphia Flyers fan, so going to games is a little tricky :p

I do so enjoy hockey. Sadly, since I don't have cable anymore I don't watch it much anymore. Being from Texas, I am a fan of the Dallas Stars. Crap, I need to check out their new stadium. Hmmm....perhaps it's time to round up the friends for a hockey roadtrip.
I know the feeling, I recently moved out and cant afford cable at the moment. But I always have been a wings fan and with the ESPN score center app I can at least look up the scores and any news that comes up.

Being from Pittsburgh, it's pretty much illegal not to be a Pens fan. However, I am completely okay with this, especially because I love listening to Mike Lange announce the games. That man is a legend.

I played Hockey as a kid, and because my mother had to buy me boots to play Hockey, (It's all fake turf and studless shoes now) I also started to play Soccer, because rulewise it is Hockey without sticks. I much prefered Soccer and stuck with that. Hockey is one of my least favorite sports to photograph, the ball is too small and the action is too quick (I still prefer it to the absolute tedium that is cricket though).

I'm Canadian, and my local team is the Montreal Canadians.

And yet, I don't care all that much about hockey, unless it's playoff season, at which point I get enormously interested. Which I am really doubting we'll be in this year. -_-

I'm a massive Hockey fan, ever since I was a wee lad I grew up watching the Philadelphia Flyers. That said I'm a massive Vancouver fan with a soft spot for the Flyers. (Nostalgia is a ***** am I right?)

Then you completely missed out on what the "fanbase" in Winnipeg put us through. Two solid years of "WE'RE GONNA GET YOUR TEAM HA HA HA LOSERS HA HA" and waves of shitheads from Winnipeg coming to gloat on our team's official forums after the deal went through tends to sour a man on his fellows, you know?

If I told you how many times I had to hear that I don't deserve a hockey team and should go back to watching NASCAR because I'm an "inbred, backwoods, woman-beating redneck," I doubt you'd believe me.

PS
It's not hard to fill up a 15,000 capacity building. We did that here in ATL for several years, and that was AFTER the Atlanta Spirit LLC bought the team and did every damn thing they could to destroy it.

17,000+ fans avg at games when Turner owned the team. Add that to the fact that we sold out our only two playoff games, and I'd say you HAD a recipe for success. I could rant about that all day, though.

I believe the "we're gonna get your team was more directed at Pheonix. I really only heard about Atlanta in the last month or so before the deal was made. I'm sorry that you hate Winnipeg (have you ever been here?) because of this and I was only playfully jabbing you over the seats thing. I don't believe in stereotypes about the south like you mentioned and haven't heard stuff like that in my area, people are much to busy being racist towards the local aboriginals.

I wouldn't say that I'm a full on fan since I don't really watch games except on rare occasions, but I do like playing hockey, I like it way more than any other sport, and I watch games on TV from time to time. When I do pay attention to the sport, I usually watch the Red Wings and Blackhawks mostly.

I'm a Habs fan, I'm a poolie (which is pissing me off since I'm not winning like last year) and I'm also a Fantasy owner (doing better).

In my opinion, the Nhl video games are the best example of not a game that's just released with newer graphic and updated roster. It's tweaked and add more stuff every year. Changes are subtle, but appreciated.

Atlanta's loss of the Thrashers was a true tragedy indeed. Every time I see the Philips arena (or that whole area of the city really) I just get depressed. It's like, dead over there now. The Thrashers would've been fine if Kovalchuck wasn't such a greedy Russian pig and stayed their number one star. He would've kept the team alive. Instead we got some strange ambiguously black guy that nobody liked.

But yeah I'm from Montreal and I'm a huge hockey fan, it really is the greatest sport out there. The grueling pace. The unbelievable skill. The ubiquitous brutality. I actually didn't really get into it till I moved to Houston, Texas though. I love it now, and I love my roller hockey league. Ice is better but roller is still fun.

As far as the NHL goes I'm a huge Bruins fan. Dat Thomas. Dat Lucic. Dat Rask. Dat Marchand.

FUCK YEAH BROONS

also there is one Hockey, and it's played on ice. Field hockey is not hockey, it's a sport played by women in skirts
